Hello everyone! This is my first dakka post ever, which is pretty exciting.

I wanted to post my current Typhus zombie list to see whether or not it's ready for competitive play. I'm just getting back into the game after a lengthy hiatus and I willfully admit that the current meta is a bit of a mystery to me. So, let me know what you think.

HQ

Typhus -- 230

Troops

7 Plague Marines, 2 plasma guns, VotLW, power axe, Rhino -- 255

Its pretty solid. You would be happier with another helldrake instead of the havocs.

You could probably also live with only 2 zombie squads. How many games will you be playing with 3 objectives on your board edge?

Looks good. I'd drop the terminators, the havocs and one Zombie squad for a Baledrake and another unit of Obliterators.

I agree with that there are too many zombies. When I have run three large squads they tend to get really bogged down and overly restrict my movement. Although if you are using two of them to hold objectives and the third to deliver Typhus it may work out. I think with the addition of Tau and the amount of intercept available that your Termicide squad may not work out too well in a competitive scene. They drop and then get dropped.

This army looks a good all-rounder, but in practice would get bummed by terminator armies... There is not enough AP2 here... Drop the havocs for maybe a lascannon pred.
I would also drop a zombie squad and take an un-marked sorcerer instead. His powers from biomancy and telepathy can be brilliant, and a nice source of AP2 if you're lucky...

I took my DW vs a very similar list and got smashed thanks to six Obliterators.

With that much Plasma Fire and no way to drop them except in cc, I was unable to take them out.

Regarding the zombies, I've been reserving one squad, plopping one on an objective, and sending the third upfield with Typhus. They haven't managed to really hinder me yet, but I am seriously considering taking a squad out in order to get more damage output.

The Havocs have been really useful thus far, especially with fliers. Plus I bought the new FW legion autocannon set, which looks amazing.

I haven't been amazed with the Terminators, but have kept them because I love the models. If I were to drop them, however, I think I'd probably squeeze in another PM Rhino squad with meltas rather than another heldrake, mostly because I absolutely hated painting my first one. Would more plagues be a valid swap?

I think the extra PM rhino squad is the way to go over another drake. Drakes are great at what they do but are so meta shifting their usefulness is being worn down by people building their lists to avoid the drake. PM's are scoring and resilient which is what your list is good at so I say add more.
