Hello, good people of Dakka!

I am Kitty Fitty (or Bloo if you'd prefer), and I am as new to wargaming and miniature painting as you can possibly get. (In fact, I have yet to even paint my first miniature, and I have never played a wargame in my life.) Even so, I have taken a great interest in painting miniatures, and I plan to help my husband create his Warhammer 40k army for practice. Because of this, I decided to seek out a friendly community that would accept me for the newbie that I am.

I have looked over a ton of miniatures, and so many of them are so detailed and beautifully painted. I am not sure if I'll ever be as good as some of these people, but I do hope to give it my best.

I think I prefer Bloo.

When you've come around to paint something, put some pictures up.

Welcome to the community and wargaming in general. Being new isn't a big deal we all started out a new people at one point or another. You are already well on your way ahead of a lot of the people i play with who have played for years and don't have a single painted model lol

I sure will! I will be seeking constructive criticism and all that good stuff to help me better myself when I do so.

As a fellow newcomer (to the forum, at least). I'd like to throw my welcome in here and say that we all started somewhere.

Years ago, when all this was battle scorched fields, I would gaze in awe at the pictures in magazines and at the models is stores, even the stuff my dad painted and never think I would be as good as what I saw.

These days my dad wishes he could paint like me and I've started entering single figure competitions at the tourneys I attend. It won't happen overnight, but keep at it. You'll get there.

And once again, welcome.

@Xenocidal Maniac.
Thank you. c:
Do you often dream of stormtroopers? :'D

@BunnyCommando
Thank you for welcoming me~
It does seem a little intimidating, and I always feel that those who have been at the hobby a lot longer will have a sense of elitism. So far, however, it hasn't been like that. Everyone has been very encouraging and welcoming (both here and IRL), and this has probably the first time I've felt so welcome by a group of hobbyist.

Welcome Kitty!

I guess I will leave a little tip for a newcomer like yourself (this is how "I" started out, so it may not be everyones opinion):

First, start out painting miniatures simplistically. Now I am not saying paint it all one color, because that would be a bit silly, but start out with small baby steps. Go with a basecoat first, then wash, then finish with a drybrush of about the same color as the basecoat color of what you are painting. Also, start off with a model that does not have a large amount of detail, since it will seem daunting at first. What I suggest is start off with the basic trooper to build your skills on.

Now, I know with this kind of thing, not everyone is going to have the same opinion on it, but I thought I give you some tips from how I learn.
