Just a dilemma I am having. I like him because of the fluff, but am wondering whether it is worth it to buy him, or just go for a regular warboss as a HQ choice. (I'm a really new player). Thoughts?

With the way the codex rules were written and now under 6th, he isn't worth the bonus. Just my thought. His auto, six inch movement for all units was great. Let's though mega nobz and others really move. With the change to fleet, not so great. His personnel bonuses are still great. He is a power house and will be hard for your opponent to get the slay the warlord point without dedicating a lot of shooting.

I like him still. However a warboss kitted out the same is cheaper.

don't forget he gets a whopping 7 attacks on the charge and he can't be instant killed. 2 weeks ago I killed a wraithknight with this fellow in one round of combat. I love him, his 2+ invul save waagh special rule is amazing!

In big games, stick him in a squad of Meganobz. Nothing will survive. The Swarmlord will die, Abaddon will die, Marneus Calgar will die. The only thing that stands half a chance is Mindshackle Scarabs, and that's only because it's ridiculously OP in challenges.

Hes a big beatstick, but honestly, youre paying the extra points for that eternal warrior on him. His bonus army wide bonus is not worth it now that they changed fleet but the 2++ is nice for a turn. I wouldnt take him in less than probably 1850 points unless im making some troll list or something.

He gets +2 on the charge, but thats still only 1 attack more than a regular warboss since a reg boss can buy an AS.

Is he worth 80 more point, I say yes. It makes me want to Scream Waaagh! during a game. Just using Waaagh! you get - Fleet of Foot can't roll a 1 when it's a 6. That squad of Nobs reduced to 5 are now fearless.
Eternal Warrior, do not Instant Kill and he has 1 more wound.

I just got a Ghazghull model, and use it as either.

Ghazzy is great in low and high point games and in Green Tides. Under 1000, theres bugger all out there that can kill him. Over 2000 or at 180 models, he's giving his WAAAGH bonus to enough models to matter.

As for pure fightiness, he's less efficient per point than a regular boss, but more efficient in concentrating your power. Sometimes you want concentration over efficiency, so you'd take him for the same reason you'd take 'ard boyz.

Overall though it depends on how you want to play your Orks. He's always an asset in a Green Tide list, but the rest of the time its conditional.

I'm liking the "pros" reasoning in here. I might have to get a model and come up with a few lists for him.
