Maulerfiends are all right IMO. But they are only armor 12, and the last few times I've played my DA ravenwing, My knights would either kill it by shooting it with 10 shots of TL plasma, or kill it on overwatch. I even had one time where they ended up killing it with rending attacks in CC. They can tear it up, but again only armor 12. Tau would rip them apart before they got close enough, leaving your heldrakes the marines and the cultitsts. When the heldrakes come in next turn it would get intercepted off the board as there wouldn't be much other stuff threatening to them.

Ok, so do you have any suggestions how to optimize this list? Maulers as you notice above are fragile against S10 hits, but I want to have some solid CC hitters and in CSM book most mech units have armour12... Deamon prince is a nice alternative but if I choose him instead of Typhus I would have only cultist and ordinary marines as troop choices (thats not cool). I was also thinking about huron (this mean the same troop issue as with DP) and his deception skill but I'm didn't figured out which unit would be most suitable for infiltration/outflanking. I was also thinking about shaving each cultist unit to 10 models, droping down power fist and one melta from PM and adding two chaos spawns with MoN (they move 12" like maulers so I will be rather fast). So if you have some experiance and ideas how to deal with my problem just write it down hier

quite frankly everything is vulnerable to S10 hits. From what im hearing 2 heldrakes is the way to go so maybe drop a maulerfiend for another one and then youll really have more air superiority but just watch out for sky fire (of course)

Unfortunatly in my region we have restriction to "only one flyer unit".... So I can have only one heldrake in my army :( BTW what do you think about my ealier idea to add two chaos spawns with MoN?

After concidering all pro and contr I decided to optimize the list to make it more flexible, look at it now and tell me what you think about it. I put 3 nurgle obliterators and hellbrute with flexible wargear (instead of maulers and few cultists, I also drop PM wargear) and I want to know is it good or bad idea

maybe drop the hellbrute and beef up your cultists more so they wont run away after two of them die from bolter fire and then give your PM some wargear bc thats what they need to be really effective.

I'd wrather make all the cultists zombies and keep 10 In the backfield on a backfield objective and beef the other up to 35 and add typhus In it. Its a good delivery system for typhus. I would want 2 PM squads of 5-6 in rhinos with plasmas and no PW. I would also drop the brute, they are cool, but i dont see the use for him. Obliterators are awesome, to DS one squad is risky, but if they come in when and where you want, they can kill anything. The heldrake is a no brainer. The spawn are a nice addition, but as said, only 5 and only MoN. They're awesome vs low AV vehicles as well as tarpitting, dont forget to roll for "mutated beyond reason".

Ok I shave few points (droping 1 cultist unit and power fist from PM-they will have typhus so power fist isn't really needed there). Know I'm thinking about what Killerpenguin has written. I think I have 2 options: adding 10 csm or another (smaller) PM unit (I didnt found any points for rhinos). Please tell me which option is better:

This will give you nice scoring units... Advance Typhus in the big blob, Oblits and Helldrake for Firesupport and Fiends + Spawn put on the pressure.
There won't be much withstanding this speed and aggression, keep the cutters on the Fiends they are so good.

Valek according to chaos codex you can have only one unit of plague zombies :( and plague marines with T5 and feel no pain are just too good...but I like your idea about mauler fiends and spawns combo. I would still take tendrils on fiends-cutters allow you to make additional attack against model already hit, so they are usefull only against multiple wounds models, tendrils are IMO more versatile. One more thing: your list cost is 1378, thats 128 above limit

You can have as many zombie units as you please;
p.61 "Any Chaos Cultist units (see the army list, pg 95) in the same army as Typhus can be nominated as Plague Zombies..."
On your previous post, ShadeAvatar, I think two units of plague marines is good. I'd probably drop both units of Oblits down to 2; 6 is nice, but you need the points to shore up other aspects of your army. Koski said it, scoring troops are the tits. Turn those 152pts into 5 more plagues split between your two squads (or maybe even a third squad of 5!) and 3 more zombies to help Typhus get where he needs to be: CC!
When you play, keep in mind little things. It's attention to detail that wins games. Things like how (if you were to use them) spawn don't have the best saves ever, so even though they're durable try lock down smaller but higher value units that put out less attacks (therefore forcing you to roll less saves), instead of tossing them against a horde. Pay attention to which direction you're facing the heldrake, 'cause you really want to keep him zooming but continue to torch the carbon out of everything and those 90 degree turns can mess you up. REMEMBER to use Typhus's psyker powers!!! You may not have a problem with that, but I always forget and that loses me kills.

I would do the first list with 35 zombies and typhus + 10 more for backfield hugging. 6 PM's In rhinos with 2 plasmas and three units of obliterators. Maybe DS one of the oblits.
Thats my take on it. Not sure how it will turn out pointwise. Automatically Appended Next Post: 2x 6 PM's

Ok I played two battles agains my riends eldars. I use 2 lists: one with maulerfiends and second with 2x3 oblits (I just swap mulers or oblits). I lost both battles (well i'm new to this ed) but I noticed that I really need hel of daemon prince, maybe on 1500 points I could have one... This will probably be a goal of my new 1500 list  From these two battles I get the one idea, see below:
