After 10 years out of the hobby, I've jumped back in and got right to painting up a new Tyranid army (as well as a few other projects). I've been familiarizing myself with some old techniques and started testing out some new ones.
I'm magnetising where I can and love the idea.

This is the first lot I've completed. Let me know what you think of my current efforts and any tip or suggestions.

Tervigon

Carnifex

I really like the colors and the Tervigon is my favorite out of the bunch. I think the base really ties everything together.

The fluff for my Hive Fleet is that they are only a slight variation on the originals from Space Hulk. Possibly the last remnants of an ancient hive that spawned Behemoth and Kraken fleets. All my Genestealers (currenly WIP) are using the original scheme.

Excellent color scheme. They almost look like they're under a blacklight. Are those Secret Weapon bases?

Thanks! Yes, sir. Secret Weapon bases are awesome. I had used another brand to base my Home Brew Space Hulk Terminators and Genestealers with a similar checkerplate style but as soon as I saw the Steel Invasion bases, well...

Looks amazing, man. I can tell you spent a lot of time on that Tervigon. All those tones and colors forming into the belly look intricate. Those colors and bases look like a Tyranid infestation happened on a deep sea underwater vessel.

Thanks heaps guys. I can't wait to get them on the battlefield. Just a Hive Tyrant, 'Stealers and sporepods to go and I'll have a 1000 point army! Will add pics in a day or so.

Thanks! The Tervigon took the most time and care I've ever spent on a mini. I think it played off.
