hello dakka dakka. i am a long time ork and space marine player. and i want to try out eldar. so what should i get first? some unit that i like have to use are the new wraih knights and jet bikes. the knights are more optional then the bikes.
i plan on painting the alaitoc style. if that helps.
any help will be appreciated

For a 500 point game you can get a fair few things-
But definately some jetbikes as they are amazing!!!!!!
Maybe for Alaitoc you could do this:

Illic Nightspear
5 pathfinders
5 rangers
4 windrider jetbikes- Shuriken cannon
3 windrider jetbikes- Shuriken cannon
3 windrider jetbikes- Shuriken cannon

^ Probably really bad, but at least you get a lot of scoring units xD

for 1k I would run

2 x10 Warp Spiders (380)
2 War Walkers w/ 2 BL each (140)
2x3 GJB w/ 1 cannon each (122)
10 Guardians w/ Wave Serpent w/ Holofields, TL Scatter(225)
Leaving 133 for HQ so add w/e hq you want...I personally like the idea of just having an Autarch w/ fusion, warp generator, and the 30 point Remnant of glory CC weapon.

The one unit that I (and a lot of other Eldar players) can't sing the praises of enough is the Windrider Jetbike squadron.

Jetbikes as troops? Without an HQ requirement making them so? Are they mad? The ultimate objective grabber, able to cover most of a battlefield in the closing moments to snatch an objective from the enemy, cheap and fairly survivable to boot. Jetbikes are your friends.

at 1500 I've been taking one 9 man GJB squad with a Farseer in it, a couple of Ranger squads and a smaller jetbike squad (3 or 6 depending on what else I'm spending points on)

Heavy Support is always the hard part, so many good choices to choose from.

Personally i think that 2 bright lances is a waste. Four shots out of a unit costing 140 odd points isn't great. Maybe throw a scatter laser on each so you get some twin linkage and anti infantry?

Don't get the war walker.
Get the bikes, the guardians and a HQ- a farseer most likely.
At least then you can have a legal army xD

wow...really guys? i said you fill in a hq and you have a legal army. Also 4 BL shots for 140 points is in case someone is that guy who brings a landraider, or even predator.

So what HQ would you Redmond? phoenix lord?
