Subject: Transparent Paint Suggestions?

Hey, everyone.
I am in need of a purple / violet transparent paint for the glass tint on quite a few Eldar canopies. I've not been able to locate a transparent paint in this shade -- does anyone know of one?
Barring that, does anyone highly recommend a particular brand that has a red / blue that could be used to make a purple paint?
Thanks in advance.

A drop of purple food colouring or ink in a good gloss varnish.

Tamiya clear paint will work... I don't think they make purple, but I know for a fact they make red and blue.

You could mix the blue and red GW glazes. It wouldn't be perfectly transparent, but a canopy can be a little translucent and still look quite good.

The only truely transparent paints, are dyes, custom aibrushing painters use paints called 'candy' colours, theses are dyes suspended in lacquer. The only truely transparent paints are those and anything similarly based.. All others have a degree of translucence. Even acrlyic matt (or gloss, or varnish etc) medium isnt actually fully transparent.
To test this; keep layering up any paint in really thin layers... over the top of a strong edge of black to white... The candy colours will always take on shading from the black or white underneath, no matter how many layers you go.
Anything translucent eventually builds up to become opaque.

Minitaire have a transparent purple in their ghost tint range. Should be easy for you to pick up in the US. Can also order online.

Allclad makes a transparent violet airbursh paint.
(I have used it...its kind of cool).
Other than that, they Tamiya clear paints as suggested, or maybe thin the gw glazes a bit.
best of luck!
