I have seen Deep Strike used very effectively, at local games, and here on Dakka.

It seems that a lot of armies have difficulty countering Deep Strikes.

Spreading out units that are vulnerable to CC should help.

Or, move out of your DZ so that a striker is exposed for longer before it hits your lines.

These two "mobility-based" answers may help deter, but you are reacting to your opponent, rather than moving at a time and pace that suits you.

Does anybody have an effective counter to eliminate Deep Strikes? Especially the ones that drop in behind your Aegis, or disgorge a CC Dreadnought right next to your artillery?

All armies welcome.

Its kind of hard to deal with deepstriking stuff, as besides drop pods, you never know exactly when they will hit the table. I guess how you handle it really depends on the kind of army you run. If you ask me, its much easier to deal with if you're running a shoot army, as you won't be moving up and spreading your army out so much. Bubblewrap you tanks with infantry, and castle your stuff close together so he can't land where he wants to. In other words, deploy in a way that YOU choose where he deepstrikes. Not perfect, but you can do it.

Now, if you run more of a mobile army, (which I do) I just try to keep my stuff in a position to support each other, and I play my game until his unit hits. Depending on where it scatters, you can move away from it, moving your front line up, while your back line tries to deal with the new threat.

Lastly, keep your stuff far apart, and just understand that he will blow up one of your units and that will be it.

Those are my 3 ways of dealing with it. Theres no one correct way, as army composition, and how the battle is going so far will obviously have an effect on it as well. These are just some broad ideas I try to use when dealing with DS shenanigans.

Allied GK with warp quake. Problem solved.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Bring enough bodies to force your opponent to deepstrike in a manner which results in him shooting units that his weapons are less effective versus. I.e. if your opponent is bringing Sternguard loaded with plasmas or meltas, force him to shoot some cheap expendable infantry.
