So I have 2x Squads of 5 Havocs

1 Squad has 4x Lascannons

1 Squad has 4x Autocannons

They both have MoN and VoTLW. I was thinking of putting both behind my Aegis Defense line, with the Autocannon. I'm not sure though if I want to use the 4 autocannons or go with 4x missile launchers. This setup would be for a higher game (over 2k), and I haven't actually played it yet. Anyone have experience with havocs and an Aegis?

I only play havocs to min squad size of 5. Since the rest can't use special weapons and they would just be extra woulds to protect the special weapon guys.

That was the point of the suggestion. To add more guys. When your minimum unit starts taking casualties their effectiveness drops quickly as they lose their prized guns. Putting them in terrain with more guys will probably make them more durable in the long run.

If you're set on fortifications I would suggest the bastion. For 25 more points you get av 14 and the unit inside cannot be targeted. Plus your aspiring champion can fire the heavy bolter from inside. The fire points in the front allow two models to fire from each so that lets you shoot all 4 lascannons. I'd put autocannons on top since they are cheaper and a lower threat.

I do like the bastion, but would like to point out it still doesn't protect you against flamers. A heldrake can still come in and burp D6, Str6 ap3s on the unit. The eldar would also toast them with a wave serpent delivering some of their toys.

I need to return some video tapes.

2 Havocs with heavy weapons in a bastion can fire out the windows and be safe from the Heldrake.

Bastion is no worse than ADL for drakes but it does protect from vector strikes. It also adds fearless to the inside squad.

I think only the unit at the very top on the roof can get bale flammed. Can wave serpants even reach the havocs on top?

Flamers that touch a firepoint get D6 hits at the weapons str/ap values on the unit inside the building.

Wave serpents deliver flamers fast and effectively.

Use 4 ML with flak and the flying chickens will not come to close to you.

With Tau stripping cover saves and the overall focus on S6/7, I really see a growing niche for the Bastion.

Flakk missiles are ridiculously expensive and in effect, you're still just throwing up another quad gun without the twinlinking.

Agreed. They really went over the top on the price. I could see it being more valuable if the warhead still had a krak missile profile.
