So I have a slight dilemma...
I really want to see about make a very fun, fluffy IG list, and I have settled on making an Elysian style list, however, I'm not sure what to build the list out of, the standard IG codex or the actual Forgeworld codex that they have. While I do like the FW codex, not ever club allows that here and I know that each book has its strengths and such, I just wanted to see what other people would think and get some input from you guys.
Any advice would be very helpful!

"The path of the righteous is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyrannical. Blessed are those, in the name of The Emperor and Holy Tera, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly Man's keeper and the finder of lost souls. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Emperor's Hand when I lay His vengeance upon you." |

Build the FW list and tell people to stop making house rules to ban your army. It's part of the game just like any other army and clearly the best representation of the Elysian drop troops. Doing a proper drop troops list with codex IG (and no FW flyers) is pretty much impossible. Unless you play a very small game you just don't have the FOC slots to bring enough flyers, and you can't deep strike your troops.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

FW should normally be fine. But really the main problem I've found is that people are a bit iffy about versing it because they are unfamiliar with the units. Then there are those of course who just have some prejudice against it. So if you print out all the rules and have them on hand at games, it'll generally be fine. Then if you feel its necessary, just make up a back up list from the regular IG codex that could be fielded with the same guys (granted it wont work as well).

I think it would be easier to make a list from the normal IG codex, and just make the units as similar as possible to the options in the Elysian codex. The reason I say this is because nobody I know lets me use my Death Korps codex or my Vraksian renegades codex, and at all the tournaments I have been to (save 1 kill teams tourney), forgeworld has been illegal. Now if you have enough models to field an apocalypse army, I'm sure your Elysian codex would be legal then, because forgeworld is almost always allowed in apocalypse.
Just my experience, and I know it might be legal elsewhere. But so far, the only FW codex I know that is completely and fully legal in 40k is the Eldar Corsairs one.
Maybe some more friendly players will let you try your Elysian codex out though, just the people I know are always really shaky about FW dex's, expecting them to be highly op. I wish FW and GW would just fully unite so that players wouldn't be scared of FW dex's. Because most of the time, that's like a player not letting you use your current (4th) edition orks codex, for example, just because they don't want to play against orks.
Good luck anyhow, and try out both lists
