I needs some quick review tips please. I haven't played my dark eldar since 5th ed. Currently playing wolves but they are getting hammered at the moment, especially at 500pt games. I have a 500 point tournament comming up with Tau and Eldar MC being the flavour of the month.
I know I will be facing Riptides and a Knight, crazy for 500 point lists.

I put the following list together:

HQ
Archon (Blaster) - goes with Trueborn

Elite
Kabalite Trueborn x 4 (4xBlaster)
Venom (Splinter Cannon)

Troop
Kabalite Warriors x 5 (Splinter Rifles, Blaster)
Venom (Splinter Cannon)

Wyches x 5 (Haywire Grenades)
Venom (Splinter Cannon)

Well the poison is defintely good vs the tide but those 2+ saves hurt you.

Its about as good as your going to get at this point level.

Why not take a haemonculous with a liquifier instead of the archon? He is only 60 points. Saves some points and I would add night shields if possible so you can avoid the small arms fire which will blow your vehicles down with glances. Also if your venom goes down you can use the feel no pain to try and keep your boys alive longer. 5+ is no good so I think the FnP could help.

It's dicey against a Riptide, that guy is 2+/4++, and about the cost of a unit of Termies (but with 7 total wounds and an invulnerable save that can actually be made 1/3 of the time).

The good news is, his longest range weapon is 36". Dark Lances are AP2 as well, and Nightshields are 10pts. Plus, the range game isn't just awful against the rest of the armies. 18" puts you in range of everything the Riptide has...

He has a 2+ 5++ that can be a 3++. He has 5 wounds. Also his longest gun is 60 inches.

You're right, I was looking at the shield generator, not the Riptide shield generator. Also, I somehow missed that 5pt upgrade that would tear a Venom to little bits. I guess I don't really have enough experience against 'Tides. The only Tau player at my FLGS runs 5th ed models and the strongest I've faced were some suits and Fire Warriors.

5 wyches is too small. They aren't survivable enough to get across the table against the lists you're playing.

Warriors > wyches at this point level.


I wonder whether instead of the blaster with the units of warriors, another splinter cannon would be better.

Just thinking.
