Hi folks, I'm new here but I've been wargaming (well collecting and painting, less the gaming) for nearly 20 years now and recently I decided to start a blog containing painting tutorials. I'm not a professional painter by any stretch of the imagination but if I'm honest I'd say my painting is above average (or can be when I put my mind to it, which I will for the tutorials, I promise!) and I thought I'd try and share my experience. Rather than focusing on painting specific models, it will focus more on painting specific objects such as robes, armour, skin tones etc.
My blog can be found here:
http://pinmanminiaturepainter.wordpress.com/
There are currently 6 tutorials up:
Painting Dark Skin
Painting Ancient Bronze Armour
Painting White Robes (part 1)
Painting White Robes (part 2)
Painting Gem Stones (part 1)
Painting Gem Stones (part 2)
Please have a look and feel free to offer any criticism and feedback, either here on the blog. You can also request tutorials on specific subject matter if you like, if it is within my power to produce a step by step guide, I shall do so. If not, I will either learn how to do it and produce one later or try and point you somewhere that can do it.
I'll post updates here as and when I produce new tutorials but if you like my blog, please follow me on Wordpress

More posts are planned as soon as I can get the photos, downloaded from my camera, edited (well, white-balanced) and uploaded. I aim to do one blog per week if I can.

I like the walk through. Very well done.
My only request would be when you list off the paints you use, maybe give equivalents of other paint lines. I personally jumped ship from GW's paints after the new line came out, and a ton of people use Vallejo, Reaper, P3 ect.
Example:
I used blah of the GW line, You can also use Blah from Vallejo.

Let me start by saying thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated.
I did consider other ranges but two things prevented me. First, I don't really know any of the other ranges particularly well as I only use citadel colours because it's convenient for me to get replacements, having easy access to 3 GW stores. Second, there are now a number of alternative ranges, P3, Vallejo, Army Painter and others and I can't please everyone. What I can do is link to the colour conversation chart that I found on here (which does citadel to a number of alternative ranges) in each blog. Would that make it easier?

Echoing others, great paintjobs/tutorials!
I guess my 2c is for the dark flesh tutorial it would help if you did a mini with more skin showing, like a Catachan or Chaos Marauder. That way you can really point out highlights better.
But like I said, excellent paintjobs. Good luck with the blog~

At the moment, I only have the Elves, they were the guinea pigs of you like. I do have some models I could use so I'll try and paint a couple up as examples so you can see how it looks on models with more exposed skin.

The blog has been updated. There is a link to the colour conversion chart in the menu on the left and all articles point the reader to that link if they don't use Citadel Colour paints.
Thanks for the feedback so far, please keep it coming!

Eh, I'm really enjoying when I get an email with a blog update from you. I'm loving all the techniques and advice you are pumping for the good of the community but don't sell yourself short, once in a while do a "vanity" post and show us your armies or what you are painting / current status

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's good to see that people are learning from the tutorials - that's why I write them!
I'm currently undertaking a painting challenge with two friends where we've agreed to paint a certain points or pounds value every fortnight. I'm mid-way through a block of 20 High Elf spearment and the first fortnighly deadline is this sunday so there will be some Vanity Posts this weekend. But I still want to commit to at least one tutorial per week as an average.
However, I keep a record of most of my work on my photobucket account. It's got everything I've painted since I restarted my hobbying in 2009, although they're grouped into album's so it's hard to tell what was painted in what order; the Lord of the Rings album has a couple of "before/after" shots of stuff painted in 2009 and stuff painted in 2012/2013 that shows how I've improved in the last 4 years
