Hi all I was just curious as to how everyone was using their Dire Avengers. Everything I have come across leads me to believe they are only taken as troops choices do to their low point count and access to the wave serpent as a dedicated troop transport. Other than that how are they holding up once they are out of the WS? Has anyone made use of them on foot? I was just going to fly them to objectives and treat the WS after that as a aggressive tank.

Take guardians...more killy on a point by point basis and tougher (more models) 90 points for 10 or 91 for 7 DA. How I use Wave Serpents are as a mobile firing platform AND as a delivery system for the guardians to wreck face alpha strike a unit then run and hide back in wave serpent next turn.

I haven't tried this out, but I've read a nice tactic is to use Dire Avengers to get Karandras into combat. Give the Exarch a Power Weapon and Shimmershield. Then Karandras has a 5++ save and the Dire Avengers have Stealth. You can then give the Exarch Shield of Grace so that they can accept (and survive) challenges in place of Karandras, leaving him to beat face.

I like this, I also read about a WS going back to back to avoid giving up the rear. SS protects everything but the rear. By doing this i can drop off my DA behind move to the objective and have a WS wall allowing units from behind to advance. Or allow my DA to pop out fire move back behind the WS. And if they are alive next turn get into the WS again and move forward. This is just a idea, im a little rusty to 6th.
