Hey everyone,
So I have been working on my first gaming board.
I went to Home Depot and picked up two 2 foot by 8 foot polystyrene sheets and a 6 foot by 8 foot piece of chip board at 1/4 inch.
I cut the polystyrene into 6 foot lengths and taped them together using some packing tape. and then I used some No More Nails Foamboard adhesive and slapped it onto the chipboard and stuck the polystyrene onto it so it sticks.
So this will be a lightweight board but the polystyrene will add some height which I think will be nice.
Today I went and picked up some sand and elmers glue and watered it down and painted it directly onto the board and poured the sand over the board.
Now so far it hasn't really dried but I am going to post some pictures when its dry and show you guys what it looks like.
The only question I have is does sand stick well to glue on polystyrene? it seemed to me that it wasnt sticking as well as I wanted it to? Any way to save it if it doesnt stick well? Automatically Appended Next Post: EDIT: Well I checked the sand... It failed so bad haha. I was thinking should I just sand the polystyrene insulation a bit to rough it up and then paint it a brown colour? Then I can glue some flock on it and stuff?
I'm sort of lost as to how to put stuff on the board.... Even though I know how to build it haha

Yes, sand it.
Also, there is a plastic cover on it, as moisture barrier...make sure you remove that first.
Go watch some terrain videos on youtube, (terrain a holic) or check out an awesome terrain forum, http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/
best of luck.

Thanks, tmrw I will sand it and then I am going to apply a layer of paint but mixed with some sand to add texture. The paint will be brown then I can just add some grass flock I made myself in large quantities using watered down paint and sawdust (great money saver for huge amounts of flock)

Before you do that, I would suggest a bit of landscaping...
Gouge some gentle gully and trenches into it...nothing huge, but since you have the luxury of a foam top (as opposed to a flat table) take advantage of the fact you can add some minor depth!

Well I was thinking about adding a few gentle hills but I am not sure because I have some seperate unattached hill pieces and I think that works better so the board isn't set in stone you know?
