I don't have my codex on me at the moment but as I recall:

Creed

90 pts (?) has very useful ability that benefits almost every list, can make double orders per normal, increased order range, unique order

Yarrick

185 pts, has 2 abilities that increase his personal survivability, small aura that effect infantry within proximity & close combat ability. While a very potent close combat unit, for 185 pts you could almost add a executioner tank on the battlefield. Outside of his "amazing" lore/backstory, & potential to deny opponent warlord point, why would anyone take Yarrick over Creed?

I´d never take Yarrick at all. Not even for half his cost... There is no place for a semi strong cc character in a guard army nowadays.

That is my conclusion as well. I'm just not sure what GW was thinking with Yarrick. Don't get me wrong, Yarrick is a total bada*s in the lore & his abilities reflect that "HOWEVER" they don't in any way reflect his tactical prowess. He countered almost every coordinated assault Ghazghkull threw at him on Armegeddon with great success. This is in no way reflected in his tabletop abilities. Also, his point cost is way over the top. For 65 more points your looking at being able to deploy a Kaldor Draigo quality unit on the table.

Why would you ever take either? 90pts is a ludicrous amount, when for the same amount of points I could take another CCS with melta guns.
The IG HQ characters are really weak.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Yarrick is a better necron then the Necron.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Yarrick has a friggin power klaw for a hand and can kill you just by looking at you.

Creed has a cigar.

It was about that time I realised that the girl scout at the door trying to sell me cookies was in fact an imperial officer named Creeeeeed and that the trolley she was carrying them in was an imperator titan!

Yarrick 1 Creed 1

(seriously, I like them both Creed = rules/Yarrick = fluff)

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Scouting Titans in apoc is pretty lulzy.

"So your plan is to hide this god machine behind that bush?"

"Yep"

"Without any camouflage?"

"Yep."

"The Omnissiah is...anxious about this course of action"

"Oh don't worry"

"Now Cadia shall fall before me! Ahahahahaha for CHA-"

*Imperator titan suddenly appears behind the bush, expanding to full size*

"WHAT!? THAT'S NOT EVEN POSSIBLE! THAT SHOULD TAKE A TACTICAL GEN-"

*The titan fires all guns, wiping out the black legion force at the area, Abaddon's last words are as follows*

"CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-"

IIRC, Yarrick came out during the Armageddon campaign back in 3rd edition as a strong IG character that can handle Orks in CC. Like others have said, he came out for the badass fluffiness.

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

This... at the moment he serves more purpose fluff-wise, though I hope that changes to make him more worth taking competitively.
He did exist as a special character in 2nd edition, but back then as formidable as he was for a Guard character, he was but a speck compared to the close combat beasts other armies could field - it was dubbed "Herohammer" for a reason.

I only own the Yarrick model because it's . . . Yarrick. He is pretty much mandatory to have with my Steel Legion presentation wise.

Damn, and here I thought he was still in the closet...

Yarrick can be hilarious in a Ogryn+Azreal "deathstar".

Put Yarrick out front and laugh as you make your opponent reroll successful to wound rolls against T5. It really is a priceless look on their face when they finally kill Yarrick only for him to get back up.

Creed has a badass stance, a look that can make you feel like a small boy again and is a bad enough dude to keep his guns holstered and fight with a cigar. All Yarrick has is a metal hand.

Creed 3 Yarrick 0.

Yarrick doesn't just have a metal hand. He also has a LAYYYZZZZER BEAM EYE! Also he headbutted an ork warlord dead with a missing bleeding arm and the orks fear him. And as we all know ork magic :U

Creed 3
Yarrick 3
Both are badass. Unless you are playing the game and then just pretend Yarrick is a lord/generic commisar.
