Hi folks, I'm a hobbyist (predominantly collecting and painting) based in Manchester, UK, and I recently joined your wonderful community in order to share my painting experiences with you all and as I've been doing the hobby for some time now (22 years since I first started but that includes an 8 year break early part of last decade). The easiest way is to just give you a link to my photobucket library but I'll link some pictures of my better models (photobucket has pretty much everything since I restarted back in 2009). Since I restarted, I haven't really settled on any single army - I predominantly go for fantasy stuff, WHFB and LotR, and I have collected and painted a number of small warbands for Dwarves, Goblins (both from battle for Skull Pass), High Elves (mostly Island of Blood), Lizardmen and Bretonnia and I have the beginnings of an Empire army. Although I enjoy the 40k setting, I don't really collect 40k other than buying miniatures for a Dark Heresy game.

I also write a painting blog, http://pinmanminiaturepainter.wordpress.com/ in which I produce simple, easy to follow, step-by-step guides to achieving some nice painting effects. I hold my hands up and say I'm not a professional miniature painter, but I reckon on balance I'm probably above average and, more importantly, I have enough time right now to write tutorials and so I am proud to do so, please check out my blog.

Aside from that, I look forward to sharing pictures of my painting with you guys, learning some new techniques and hopefully helping some of you improve your own painting.

I will leave you with a selection of images from my photobucket gallery.

I'll start with a picture of Boromir from the Fellowship of the ring, not because he's the best model I've ever painted, but because I have two versions, one painted in 2009 and one in 2012 and you can see the improvement. So much improvement that the 2012 version is an entry in a speed painting competition.

Next is my High Elf Army (my favourite of all my warbands for no reason other than I like the colour scheme)

Something from 40k, well Space Hulk actually, but I'm still proud of it. My first attempt at OSL!

And that's your lot, I've taken up far too much of your time already! If you like the pictures, check out my photobucket and blog

Hear hear, but don't worry about that - I intend to stay in the modelling and painting areas, away from any contentious arguments. I just want to enjoy my hobby.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...
