So here is my find. Purgation Squad with 4 Psycannons + Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with a Psycannon and Prescience in a Chimera.

It's all about this little bit of cheese. I have found no ware in the rule book that states a weapon with two profiles of heavy and assault can only fire assault when it moves. What dose this mean, they could move then fire 4 heavy snapshots instead of 2 assault, but why would you do that, Anti-Air, duh. Now if there in a Chimera then they could move 12 and fire 20 shots as heavy weapons out of the 5 fire ports, throw in Prescience and hit 3.3 times then re-roll all the misses and hit 2.6 more times. Avrage of 6 s7 hits. That's better then a quad gun and mobile to boot.

I used this the other day and they started wrecking everything they shot at, there mobility gives them a 48 inch danger range, and the Emperor help you if this cheese doesn't move. 20 re-rollable s7 rending + the Multilaser and Heavy Bolted on the Chimera Throw in Astral Aim and talk about nasty. And if something dose wreck the Chimera and the enemy doesn't have whats needed to take out the Guy's inside then it's more massed fire coming your way.

Let me know if I'm wrong and what you think.

36 inch danger range (24 psycannons, 12 for Chimera movement).

You are not allowed to elect to make snapshots. I've been disagreed with before, but to me that means you are not allowed to choose to fire Heavy after moving.

We have been over this a lot But here is the other side of things.

You do not choose to make snapshots, you choose to use either profile, which the Codex tells you is an option.

Therefore you choose heavy or assault, if you choose Assault 2 the models fire two shots, but they are snap shots as you have moved cruising speed.

If you choose Heavy 4 the models fire four shots, but they are snap shots as you have moved cruising speed.

Most people I know play it that you may choose the Heavy 4 profile and fire Snap Shots.

It's sometimes disputed however, so I'd watch out when using this tactic.

Iranna, in this case all shots are going to be snap shots because the vehicle moved cruising speed.

Rig, Can they choose either profile in this case, are they limited to the Assault 2 Profile, Can they not shoot at all, or something else?

Why?

They must choose Assault as choosing Heavy would be choosing to snap shot.
We've had this discussion and I don't feel like being abused over it any more. I refuse to post further in this thread.

I realise that, what I meant was when firing Psycannons in general after moving.

OK as this discussion goes, I must shoot assault over heavy if I have the choice of shooting normally vs. snapshot, in which I'll always choose to shoot normally anyway.

But if I'm in a situation where I can only shoot snapshots I could choose either profile since both will be shooting snap shots. In this case I choose heavy since 4 snapshots is better then 2.

As stated in the first post I have found no rule for or against it.

I don't want to change this post on if you can fire Heavy or not. RAW says the model can fire either unless in terminator armor, and if a model has two weapons they can choose which to fire too. That they must fire snapshots is irrelevant to the selection. So I'm on the side that they can do that.

As for the power with the inquisitor, I like it but is it really that good? You can't deploy in the Chimera. It's at least 332 pts to take since you have to bring at least one basic warband to get the Chimera (unless I'm missing something). Seems a little expensive at 320.

You might be a little better to not take it in a chimera, and use two rhino's with 2 squads at 410 pts. You loose a psycannon, but you can split your fire and have more units. If you don't care so much about Astral, you can then swap the purgation for purifier so they're more worthwhile in close combat for if/when it comes.

I'm not sure, would take a little more thinking than I have time for right now, but I think you have a good starting base for something worthwhile. With Coteaz you could make those 3 useless guys for the Chimera scoring to hold your objective really cheaply.

I ran 2 of these setups one with the InQ and the other with Coteaz. which gave me some supper cheap scoring units.

I built the entire list around maxim firepower and mobility vs. minimum troops.

I tabled the IG by turn 3.

a basic warband can be 3 acolytes at 4 points a piece for a total of 12 points. I use them to stick them in a bastion or something. they love playing with the guns. But you already accounted for that, I realised. And yes, it is that good. If you get to choose at maximum potential, 5 psycannons firing at heavy 4 with full BS and rerolls for misses levels anything. I've destroyed land raiders with a massive overkill due to the rending.

Why would you be full BS?

Because that's the scenario I painted. It's worth it to buy them because in a situation where you are full BS they are incredible and not only can destroy land raiders but will with some to spare. And even in the situation OP describes they are strong and the more misses you make the more important rerolls are so it's strong there too if that was what was annoying you about my comment?

You see, if you stand still, you can fire them at full bs. It's one of those things you can do.

Rig,
I think Purifier went off topic a little and is getting excited about a Purgation squad in an optimal situation.

Down boy down!
