This list combines the shooty ability of two armies, but draws upon the Farseer's (x2) ability to act as buffers to the whole force.

Some thoughts: 10 Guardians without any form of cover (no Aegis) are gonna eat it hard. Same when put with the FW unit. Farseers with reaper, I see that, guide and what not. The Tau HQ is so expenisve to leave buried with ... 2 broadsides? Do you really need pathfinders with so small of tau? Would it be better to go cheap with a Cadre Fireblade, drop the pathfinders, get marker drones on the firewarriors through a Shas'Ui and then bump up the Broadsides to a full unit of hailing death. Trim Points, get a Skyshield and put Dark Reaprs + Broadsides on it... bam, in like Flynn. Awe and just realized, Mstry Lvl 2, Guide + Prescience... Battle Brothers with Tau... OH OH OH Yea, get rid of the pathfinders. So gross! (or am I just crazy here?)

Silly me forgot to include my aegis line...
The Tau Hq gives re-roll, ignores cover, and tank hunters, to the the 5 missile reapers. Reaper Exarch also has fast shot for 2 shot Icarus intercept fire with tank hunters. This give the Las Cannon a nice effective way to take out helldrakes with the Neuro-chip.
Like the skyshield idea, trying to tailor list for local tourney idk if they allow a skyshield, but i will look in to such matters.
I can definitely get rid of pathfinders, they were mostly for ignore cover and BS+ for the riptide using the Blast Template. Its nice having a large blast but when people get cover its not so good anymore.
I may remove the guardians for jetbikes.
Perhaps the rangers also.
Let me know your thoughts.
I can get another squad of 12 fire warriors for extra gunline effect also..
Any tips on using the riptide, it really has not been effective and just seems to die to mass fire and not kill much. FNP or no?

Just hold your riptide behind, it has ridiculous range IIRC, 72, so you dont even have to move it after first turn, it can just shoot with all the markers you have and kill with S9 AP2 blast. (Or was it S8 AP2?)

Take the guardians with a warlock, or not at all. Take away pathfinders, get warlock, + other tau stuff. Warlock with guardians with BL behind an aigis line.... It brings tears to my eyes....*sniff*

Thats a good idea until you get hit with a whilwwind missile blast that kills 75% of your squad without a cover save. I think shrouded is fun but ive learned people just avoid it with ignore cover.

So yeah...a few thoughts. 1850 you need 5+ troops. otherwise you will lose objective games...remove one troop choice, and what are you going to do? only take 2 objectives of four? what if one gets contested...its too dicey.

Thats good advice, I will probably cut back a bit on somethings, and re do the list with some jetbike squads and stuff. I know my killing ability is A+ so i often rely on that to remove any and all scoring units from my enemy's force. I need to bring some crisis suits in too.
