Subject: Blood Angel Tips?

So I've been playing Blood Angels for a while now, and the one thing I learned the hard way is that the Blood Angels are an army that has no feths to give. They see an enemy, they bum rush that enemy, and then they kill that enemy. I realize thats a gross oversimplification of what they are, but I'd like to get any tips on how to use them to their full potential

Find out what your opponent is playing and then counter it.

Basically the BA are pretty bad if you are unable to tailor your list. There are numerous threads explaining why this is true.
Fundamentally, the BA can no longer execute the plan you outlined in your original post with and reasonable chance of success. There are various reasons for this, but a main one is the loss of init 5. The Space Puppies own our faces, lock, stock and barrel. And there's not a damn thing we can do. Automatically Appended Next Post: I find this to be a useful exercise: put yourself in another list's shoes. Go look up your average semi-competitive Necron list. Then imagine that you are the general of that list. Now imagine what the BA can possibly field as a TAC (non-tailored) list that can challenge you. That's the problem with the BA right now.

One of the advantages that Blood Angels have is the ability to take Locator Beacons in a scout squad. As a Drop Pod player, I find that fascinating. (I have a unit of BA allies for just that reason.) As such a Deep Strike heavy army, it seems like a mechanic which is underused at best.

Anymore it's a matter of what separates them from other SM. That tends to be vehicle options mostly, and the availability of Death Company.

Death company are what Khorne Beserkers want to be when they grow up. They're still fairly mediocre for their points because getting them into assault is a royal pain. But still, it's funny that ten thousand year old veterans of the world eaters get their faces smashed in by blood angels off their happy pills.

I never said DC were GOOD things that separated them. I find them too expensive personally, but I also went the CC route.

I've found that unless I can get to grips with my opponent quickly, I tend to have a rough time of it. If playing a large enough game, take some DC with a chap/libby and throw them in a Land Raider. Support with some Devs to keep the enemy's armor hidden, jump some assaults up a flank, and on the other some bikes.
Keep the attack fast and fluid, keep your opponent switching targets so that you have a chance of getting some of that melee nastiness into their faces. Dreads used to be good for this, but VanVets in a dropppod are a fantastic distraction and even better when you land them near/on that lightly defended Aegis and Quad-Gun or a vehicle that's raining death.
There's no doubt with the nerf of melee (to a point) and FC, you're going to struggle to find an army list that works. But when you do, you'll be just as scary as every other army.
