Sorry for a probably dumb question, but can't find it answered in the search.

I'd like to get some of the maxmini, Anvil, or similar style guns into my IG trooper's hands, but I'm not sure how to do that short of incredibly meticulous conversions since just about every IG arm is sculpted holding a gun. Most of these (awesome) third party guns don't have a hand sculpted on them, so snip at wrist and make it work doesn't work.

I'm assuming there's a known fix or bit provider for this 'arm issue,' or at least hoping. Any recommendations?

Are you talking Cadians, Catachan or other? Different kits have different bits, I can only speak for Cadians.

The only problem should be the left hand, since the gun can be cut away from the main hand and replaced with the new one very easily. Posing, leaving the guns held one handed can do the job easily, but you'd want some (most?) to be held two handed still I guess. Greenstuff can do that, although it's fiddly. You could try making a small mould to cast your own hands after spending the time making one fit well.

Ideally there'd be left hands that cup the gun, which you see with SM bolter arms for example but I can't think of any GW guard arms that do it. Eisenkern Stormtroopers have arms like that, as shown top left of this sprue. Eisenkern are my answer to all guard questions though ; p Top right shows right hands that you sit the gun on top of, you'd cut the lasgun away from cadian arms in a similar fashion.

Yes it is not all that easy a conversion, but it's an option if you have a ton of useless IG arms lying around.

If you have catachan models the ak-47 guns fit them perfectly. I've done a conversion with those to build an unit with. They have both guns with but and without but, and i believe you can request what guns you want. So this would be a simple stick them to it conversion and the ones with but can be used to hold in one hand.

Awesome, thanks for all the answers. I'll kick these around. I'm leaning towards Cadian-ish, but bare-armed dudes in flak armor don't cause me any distress.

And I've got a solid box of Dreamforge stormtroopers, so we'll see how those fit.
