Ive been wanting an ice themed Eldar army for forever, I finally decided to paint mine. Sofar I have my tanks and jetbikes painted along with a squad of dire avengers (not shown) and a squad of wraithguard.

Im looking for some Ideas on what colours to paint extra knives, satchels, jewels, spirit stones, and banners/dangly things on wraithguard.

Itar's Workshop makes Ice bases:

Not sure if that works on every random battlefield though.

Also have a look at Forge World's book Imperial Armour 11, featuring Eldar on an Ice World:

Hey thanks for the IA link, i got some good idea's!

Anyone have any tips on painting what I did better? Im still learning my airbrush, that was basically my second outing with it after finally getting it to work properly and consistently.

I could get some closer up pics if needed.

If you check on your color wheel for complimentary colors you might want to look into putting some orange to make things really pop.

Your scheme reminds me of some corsairs in IA:11
They were blue with charcoal like tiger stripes with some orange mixed in there,

Sounds weird when you read it but looks pretty good in the book.

Green, red, purple or perhaps even a darker blue would work decently for the gems in my opinion.

If you're looking for complimentary colours - then I'll echo Frik_Morkai and say Orange is the way to go - it may even look as if the ice has 'captured' the fire. However, if you want a really overall cold look, then a darker hue of blue would possibly be best. IMHO, I would avoid green, simply because, for me at least, it suggests neither an overall really 'winter' cold or, as with the orange, the sense that the winter cold is encroaching on heat and forcing it back. Green just seems like a mild spring - neither hot nor cold.

Knives and satchels, or anything leather - I would possibly go with a lighter leather, possibly highlighted with a light blue to give an indication of frost-riming.

As for banners, personally, I wouldn't be too fussed about continuing the Ice theme as the banners will be your spot colour to tie in your army, so I would choose a complimentary colour, maybe not orange, but a red and yellow of some sort.

Of course, these are just my opinions, having never painted eldar the suggestions I've made could be very garish - I just don't know, but it's just a few ideas to help you.

Thanks for the responses, I didnt think anyone else responded to this thread

Your suggestions make sense, but im not sure how ice blue and orange would look, i could try something out, I bought a red ink that may work
