I understand that it can't fire if it comes from reserves normally, but what if it flies off the table and comes back? Does that mean still no spell casting?

Yes it does.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Unfortunately, Ongoing Reserves is the same as normal reserves in everything except having to roll. The Hemlock is still not on the table at the time the power would be used.

Just another reason why the Hemlock is a bit pants. Although with Vector Dancer, you should be able to avoid flying off the table...

Oh I do agree Vector Dancer practically removes the requirement for moving off the table, unfortunately I was hoping it still had the option if things went sour where it was fighting.

I was hoping it could still cast, but I was unclear how different ongoing and regular reserves were and wanted to verify before I try the model again tomorrow. Thanks for the clarification.

I think if things go sour for a Hemlock its not going to be around to leave the table most of the time so that concern is a bit moot.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Personally if I'm taking a hemlock I'm using it for the wargear that forces rerolls on successful morale tests and the AP 2 blasts. Terrify is a nice bonus, but you can get that elsewhere if you really need it. Getting only a couple of terrifies off is acceptable to me.
