Subject: Soul Traps and Necrons?

Ok so after reading a bit on fluff of DE, I was wondering buy how would a soul Trap work against something like a Necron? My assumption is that that green ectoplasmic gauss stuff (I don't know the name of it unfortunately) is sent into the Soul Trap as the essence (or Soul if you will) will be forced to be drawn into the Trap just when the Necron is about to phase out, but that's just what is going through my head atm, I would like to know what you would think what would happen.
Cheers to all comments .

I thought it just disrupted their systems. Tech like that is bound to generate some sort of interfering radiation.

Im currently thinking of the situation like two positive magnets (The soul trap and the catacombs or whatever the Necrons sleep in underneath the planet) and a negative magnet ( the essence itself) when it comes to this atm but that's just my opinion.

Well, higher tier Necrons still have souls, don't they? And they don't always phase out when destroyed, sometimes they are just dead. I imagine its like the agoniser, in a way - it has a mode designed to steal and excruciate things like machine spirits (though I'm still not sure if machine spirits are just advanced AI or actually some sort of 'spirit'). Not too familiar with 'Cron fluff though.

To stop a Necron from phasing out you have to more or less totally obliterate them down to the last molecule. They have reformed in battle from being reduced into molten puddles of metal.

Not quite. Higher ranking Necrons have an intact conscientious. That's not quite the same as a soul.

Getting them nommed by Star gods tends to do that.

Even then, all what the Tomb World's Main computer has to do is get another body and download a copy of the necron's conscientious. Theoretically anyway. I'm sure the necrons worked out how to use system restore and floppy disks by now.

Doing that with a Necron Warrior, flayed one, destroyer, or Immortal or similarly low ranking peon should be very easy.

On the subject of Peons, I recently found out that the etymology of the term does not in fact, have anything to do with the phrase "pee on" which it sounds like but comes from some romance language word. Huh...

Don't think too much on fluff when actually playing the game, it could damage your mind.
Remember those inv saves you can buy for a Dark Eldar Raider? Fluff is it's some sort of field that makes them skip a bit in position, so a "hit" might not be a hit. Funny enough they can still take that save when ramming an enemy vehicle. Even funnier, they can use it against dangerous terrain checks where they should by any reasonable interpretation take a harder check as even the driver can't be sure of where his vehicle is. And even if he can, how is he fooling a tree that he's not driving into it at flank speed?
