Couldn't find anything in search and the FAQ came up blank....


In the Tau codex when picking a Crisis Suit, for example, the entry lists allows you to purchase up to two Drones (which will be at the lower Balistic skill listed for Drones) AND allows you to purchase a drone controller from the Support systems list which then states you can pick up to two Drones (which will have the balastic skill of the controller)

As the option to pick drones and pick support/weapon systems are both listed seperately in the Crisis Suit entry (and also Fire Warriors, etc) it gives the impression that you could purchase 4 drones in total for a single model with 2 at the lower balistic skill and 2 at the controllers own skill.


Is this a misreading on my part? A valid option? Or a mistake on their part and you can only have one or the other?

What codex are you reading 4.6?

Will have to confirm the version number when I get home in 1 hours time. But I would have thought that if they had changed the wording in the codex then the changes would have been in the FAQ.

I think the point he was making is that the drone controller no longer references the ability to take any drones. That was in the last codex and your post seems to pick and choose rules from each codex.

I thought the 4.6 HoverBoy mentioned was relating to a version number and not which Rulebook it was released for. In which case it's latest codex released in April 2013 for the 6th Edition. So no, I'm not trying to juggle two codexes as that would be silly not to mention cheating.

However, your post indicates I've misunderstood the entry, which is what i was asking. So buying the drones from the Entry page or from the Supports pages is the same thing which means you can buy in total TWO Drones. And the controller is merely a device that upgrades the Balistic skill of the Drones puchased?

It does no more or less then what is stated on page 68 of the 6th edition Tau codex.

Sorry for not being able to give you a direct answer, but forums like these need to watch their back as the Game Workshop legal team ignore the whole fair use clauses when it comes to copywrite and it is a hassle dealing with take down requests being misapplied. Given that I would be providing you an answer which is effectively handing you the rule, the moderators wouldn't like it very much, so best I can do is give you the page number to reference yourself. If you are having further issues with this problem, simply give us more details to the nature of the problem and we will better address your concerns so you can better understand what is written on the fore mentioned page.

I don't see anything related to the number of stones you can purchase on the support systems list nor on the war gear page (95). Nor in the DC entry on pg68 so unless you are getting your rules from the old codex (or are making them up) I have no idea what you are talking about.

Ok, well I'll freely admit when I've been a complete idiot. I can't see the part in the codex where I got the impression it said you could take 2 drones with the controller so can only assume I've either misread parts of the codex and gotten confused or have done what FlingitNow suggested and somehow managed to confuse the previous codex which I haven't even read for over 12 months.
