So, I'm really interested in running a Through the Breach game, once it comes out (or even once the playtest rules are leaked, to be honest), and to get a feel for it I've been reading the old rulebooks. While reading them, I noticed something about Malifaux that 40k (the other game I play) doesn't have -- fluff that is absolutely unrelated to gameplay. I'll admit my ignorance, though -- the only rules I've ever played are M2E, so it's possible that things like Lilith's Weed are in the rules, somewhere, but that entry (Book 2, pg 69), as well as others, seem more akin to an RPG than a skirmish game.

That got me thinking -- was Malifaux intended to expand into an RPG from the beginning?

I think they just wanted a more immersive background for their "world" to help keep it distinct and interesting.

Still, some of it does feel like pretty decent adventure seeds, eh?
