Hi Everyone,

Attacks from a GUO are poison 4+, however when making smash attacks he would have str 10 attacks and wound most oponents on a 2+. Do you still use the 4+ of poison or can you wound on a 2+?

I probably overlooked a rule, so any help would be welcome!

Yep, the poison rule in 6th edition has changed from 5th editions poison. Have a look on page 40, and note what it says about wounding on a fixed number "unless..."

Okay I have the book here and it says "unless a lower result is required". So does that mean that instead of the 4+ to wound I can use the 3+ or 2+ if my strength vs toughness allows it?

To finalize with an example: My GUO makes a smash attack on lets say another monstrous creature with Toughness 6. His smash attack is strenght 10, which means a 2+ to wound (regardless of the 4+ poison). Also if I would throw a 1 for to wound for the smash attack I would still get the re-roll granted from poison? Or would that only apply on my base strength?

So basically 3 questions:
1. Does Strenght vs Toughness to wound override poison if better?
2. Does the poison reroll apply on the base strength of the model or for example the smash strength?

Thanks for helping me with this!

1) YEs, that is exactly what "unless..." means - you use a 4+ (for example) unless you would wound on a 2+.
2) Yes, all it states is "Strength", not "unmodified strength", so use the strength you are attacking at

Remember that You still get reroll to wound (if S > or = enemy T) even when using 2+ to wound.

And remember if your str is equal to, or greater than the toughness of your target you get to reroll the missed wounds.
