Anyone have a link for or can post a list that is competitive centered around using banner of devastation with tactical marines?

Thinking about finishing off my 3rd company dark angels, i'm leaning towards a command squad in a LRC and some other odds and ends but I cannot find any feedback on successful banner lists or batreps involving them.

I want to stay away from using ravenwing units if possible.

Thanks

Step One: Buy yourself fortress of Redemption. Add 40 tactical marines with Bolters and command squad with Standard inside.
Step Two: ???
Step Three: Profit!

I actually thought about picking up one .... but against tau or de being maxed out at 24" minus the fortress / heavy weapons inside it could be pretty bad.

Then again against orcs or nids it would be hilarious.

I have seen 3 LRC pop out 72 bolter shots. If fortress of redemption is too imobile for u.

40 marines and a FoR will still leave you points to play with to get longer range weapons.

I've played both builds, and outside of Emperor's Will and Purge the Alien, the LRC spam is better than the FoR.

Librarian lvl 1 with PFG- 95

Techmarine with PFG and 3 servitors- 110

Command Squad: SoD- 165

ELITES

Dreadnought: MM- 100
Dreadnought: MM- 100

TROOPS

Tactical Marines x10- 140
Tactical Marines x10- 140

FAST ATTACK

Bikes x3: 2 melta guns- 100
Attack Bike: MM- 55

Bikes x3: 2 melta guns- 100
Attack Bike: MM- 55

HEAVY SUPPORT

LRC: DWV- 280
LRC: DWV- 280
LRC: DWV- 280

So here's how this works: The LRC's ride side by side, with the SoD riding in the middle and the tacs in the outer ones. The Libby and Techmarine walk behind giving the AV14 salvo-boxes a 4++ and the ability to re-toll penetrating hits and then repair immobilized or WD results on a 2+. Now, they're vulnerable to deep strikers and outflankers so the dreadnoughts walk behind the LRCs too (facing backwards!), also getting a 4++ and providing counter assault. Finally, the melta party on the bikes all outflank and pop the other guy's metal bawkses.

You can combat squad the tacticals in objective based missions or just put them all on the objectives. In PtA, keep them all in the raiders. Adjust to taste.

Now, if you don't want to be quite so...annoying, and you're firmly against bikes, then you can make a few changes, but if the heart of your list is 3 LRC's, then you need to protect them. I got the impression you weren't against bikes, just against RW mounted banner with bike spam.

Anyway, let me know what you think, good luck.

Is 3 LRC's the upper limit of effectiveness for SoD?

I wouldn't have thought about having the libby and tech marine walking behind after the pfg faq .... adding in the dreads is a nice touch too. Might have to think about it for a bit, really tempting.

@Kingleir, pretty much. To get a 4th you'd need to bring Deathwing Knights or Terminators and the cost really skyrockets, You also don't need a 4th as much as you need some dedicated anti-tank.

Ignoring the antitank for a second, is it even possible to bring the full power of 4 lrcs together under 1 banner

Nope, especially when you consider it's already tough to keep 3 working in sync without immobilizing at least one of the LRC's on terrain by T3 or so.
