The role of Wraithlord in my army is to protect home objective holders against incoming threats and possibly make some fire support for advancing troops.
After hard thinking I stoped on BL/SL loadout.
What you think, guys?

To load one out is min-160 points... risky way to spend...
can't say WL is the way to go competitively but I've played one game were 2x Starcanon went well (many MEQ) it worked because of Spirit-link so would use SC/SL if you can't use/ don't have it. (5 point's for re-rolls in combat is good but only if you can spare it...)
In the end using BL... that's what Fireprism's are for..

In Tournament.. it's Warwalkers or bust... double the firepower for the points 5++ saves... battle focus... and still a little bit of CC for all but antitank cc

Why are basic Guardians BS4 when firewarriors train from birth? Cause by the time your best warriors die of old age Eldar haven't even been laid!!

I swear I think those two have a hate-crush on each other sometimes.

Wraithlords can be effective in a tournament environment. Yes, they are expensive. But for a gunline army, they can be great as they put out decent firepower, and are fantastic as a counter assult unit once your lines get reached.

Two loadouts i've taken with success are; dual bright lance, for all your AT needs, and the scatterlaser/starcannon loadout. I've never taken the sword, so I can't comment on the effectiveness there. But always, ALWAYS take the flamers.

My final peice of advice, is that you have to act smug when you get to tell your opponent that bolters can't do anything, and krak grenades need a 6 to wound.

8,000 pts and counting
1,000 points, now painting.

For 5 points, there's no reason to leave the sword at home.
With the number of attacks WL get these days, it's a pity to lose a wound roll when a 5 point upgrade allows for re-rolls.
It's also a good deterrent. A tough-looking WL will scare off most assaults.

As for load-outs, mine did well enough with Starcannons. If you get charged by a high-T model, SC will overwatch better than the usual pair of flamers.
That was before the update, though, so add SL to the mix, as above.

For the cost wraithlords are still good backfield defense as stated above, and he is absolutely right about flamers and sword. Even if that is all you take it is an intimidating model for the backfield. It is something nice to have for a situation when you get big guns never tire and want something heavy to hold a forward objective.

I agree that starcannons are a good all situations weapon though if you need to pinch pennies on this one shuriken cannons will usually do nicely with bladestorm. A lot of people are pretty taken with the laser lock rule which is an efficient way to twin link guns but I personally prefer the higher number of low AP shots given the BS4 already.

From teaching a friend how to play shooty orks I have lost a lot of concern for increasing my accuracy and concentrating instead on increasing my dakka. In this situation it is up to you to decide which is better for you, more dakka or more precision and by dakka I mean AP2 shots

Well, I'd give him two flamers just in case some infiltrators or outflankers will appear. Then I'd give him a scatter laser and either a starcannon or a brightlance.

Dual BLs with dual flamers. Sword optional. OR Dual Scatters with Dual Flamers. Sword optional. Those are the ones I've seen the most. Both have different things they target with their shooting...but their roll of goal keeper in the backfield is the same. WLs are still a good unit for certain builds and play-styles.
