Hey Dakka
I've only started playing Infinity and currently have the
ISS starter set, a Celestial Guard Hacker and an Oniwaban. With this being the sort of game that has less emphasis on power lists I wanted to make an army based solely on models I found were sexy looking. I mean, look at the Oniwaban. That oozes awesome.
So when you take a look at the list below try to not have a heart attack...

Now this is based on both the models I have now and ones I plan on purchasing in the future for sheer cool factor. I know there are HUGE holes in this list:
1. Only 7 regular orders, two of which are
TO Camo/Hidden, one which is
AD.
2. A lot of high cost models, which could play into the retreat condition fast if not careful.
3. A high emphasis on
CC/getting close, which is extremely inefficient in Infinity.
4. No CoC.
5. Probably more that I can't think of right now...
General Strategy:
Deployment
Tiger held in
AD, Oniwaban and Shinobu use Superior Infiltration to get Mid-Table control on either Flank or an objective. Hsien and Shaolin on one flank, Su-Jian and Celestial Guard on the other.
Tactics
The Shaolin use coordinated Impetuous orders to move up fast and lay down smoke to cover the advance of the Hsien, who also utilizes MSV2 to shoot through the smoke. With 3 Shaolin and a Hsien all 4 can be used for simultaneous coordinated orders. When they get close enough they rip it up with their Chain Rifles - which is also a good defense for
TO Camo (if MSV2 fails a roll).
The Su Jian deploys in High Mobility form and seeks out the best area for laying down cover (i.e. high ground or open fire lane). With its speed it should reach there quickly, then deploy into Combat form. Transformers!
The Celestial Guard follow with coordinated orders with the Su Jian to help protect it, as well as have a Denfensive Hacker for the Su Jian.
If need be they can also be used for objective grabbing/hacking.
Lastly, the off table models. The Tiger will do what it does best and disrupt behind enemy lines and attack from unexpected angles, or support weaker flanks. The two Oniwabans will be used for surprise/counter attack from Hidden Deployment. Once revealed (which takes their own orders) use coordinated orders to minimize
AROs as well as attack the same target with two Monofilament swords that hit on 19/20. The weakness of the Oniwaban attack is the victim surviving the 12 damage hit and retaliating, so lets just double our chances of a dead target!
The trick to the two Oniwabans is minimizing
AROs, so obviously revealing them when they are in
LOS of 5 models is poppycock. The goal is to assassinate one high value target at a time.
Thoughts
So what do you guys think? Is this a viable strategy? Did I get any rules wrong? What would you do to improve this list?
A few disclaimers: I really don't like the order monkey models for Yu Jing, which is half the reason why I have problems making this list. I hate the Zanshis, Keisotsus, and the Kuang Shi models.
If I could I would want to put in the Wu Ming with the Boarding Shotgun due to yet another awesome model, but he's also good at running up to objectives/flanks and holding it down.
I was also thinking about a CoC model. I have a Pheasant Rank, but he is super expensive for a CoC and will almost never use that Monofilament sword, although I'm willing to put up with that being that I already own him and he's also a sick model - completing the theme. I do like the Kempeitai model as well, which seems to be a much more viable CoC. Perhaps trade out a Celestial Guard? The
CG was there as an order monkey as well as a LT deterrent, but if I have CoC then I honestly don't care if they know the Hsien is the LT.
Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts!
