I'm a Dark Angels player looking to dabble into Allies in my army.

Does anyone know which army would be good to Ally with?? And with what units (if you are familiar)......?

Mixed-Wing army has positive results thus far!

Need a bit more info, really, as there are quite a few ways you can build a Dark Angels army to start with.

What do you have available, what do you tend to use in most battles, and how do you normally play...?

You're right that wasn't clear at all!

My existing list goes a little something like this:-

Belial
5x Assault Termies
5x Regular Termies (2x TH/SS, 1x Assault Cannon)
5x Melta Command Squad w/dedicated Drop Pod
Siege Pattern Dreadnought w/Lucius Pattern Drop Pod
1x Predator with Autocannon & Lascannon Side Sponsons
1x Devastator Sq w/4x Lascannons
1x Tactical Sq with 1x Missile Launcher + Flakk Missiles
1x ADL w/Quad Gun
3x Landspeeders w/Typhoons
1x Dark Shroud

Automatically Appended Next Post:
** I left out something - the Tac Sq has a dedicated Drop Pod as well **

My current game plan involves Multiple Threat Overloading early in the game with long-range support. With 3 Drop Pods, 2x come in in the 1st Turn and the 3rd is empty

You could be an intelligent (As per Marine standards, not you the player) Marine player and ally with (Use/Get used by)Eldar.

Farseer(Guide the hell out of the Dark Reapers)
Troop of Choice(I would suggest Wind Rider Jetbikes)
Dark Reapers x??? (Possibly drop your Devastators in favor of other units. Dev w/ LC is 34 vs Dark Reapers with Starshot at 38 per model. So you effectively trade up 4pts per model for twice as much MEQ killing power and Krak Missiles with Pinning.)

I usually suggest taking Allies to plug the gaps - for instance, taking rock-solid close combat units to help protect a main Tau force - but, with a list like that you haven't really got any gaps. It does seem a LITTLE on the static side but Deep Strike with the Termies and pods alleviates that.

I like S.K.Ren's Eldar suggestion for that reason. If you haven't really got any shortfalls, you can do much worse than make what you have even more effective, and/or soften your opponent up a bit. So psyker-heavy is the way to go - take a Farseer or Spiritseer along with a Warlock per infantry unit. It may be worth putting them on Jetbikes to make sure they can get where they need to be as some of the more useful psychic powers only have 12" range.

Thats a pretty good suggestion! I spent the weekend thinking about it!

But being 'Allies of Convenience' I couldn't use the Eldar psykers to pump up the Unforgiven right?

How many points do you have to spend? Eldar skimmers with holos's can mesh very well with darkshrouds as can an other skimmer armies!
