Hi guys

Recently I purchased a warhound titan and im in the process of painting the interior and stuff. To add to the effect I wanted to add some small red LED's into the back compartment to light it up red like a warning light and maybe a green one in the cockpit.
Now... I know nothing about wiring up stuff and just wanted to ask if anyone had a good tutorial? or could possibly tell me what components I need?
Through reading online I found that 3mm led bulbs would be the best option... but then I was reading into resistors and just didnt have a clue! haha.

Any help would be much appreciated

Many thanks

Check out my reaver blog. Go to a basic electronic store and get a switch, wire (2 colours are good so you can tell positive from negative), a battery pack (2xAA is easiest) and some LED lights. If you are able to, go to a model train store and get filament lights instead of LED: they can fit into places easier. Run your lights in parallel, and away you go.

Led's run off of 3v(v = voltage) usually. Some watch batteries have that so you may not want to use AAA or AA batteries. They take up less space too. All the pieces from the battery holder, wire, switches are available on line. I just ordered 100 blue leds from China for $6 USDs off of Ebay. Red leds need resistors no matter what voltage you are useing.

Just remember that there is a polarity for any led. If you hook up the + to + and the - to - you should be fine.

For the calculations done for you, what resistance you need, etc.
LED centre:

The paperwork for the LEDs will tell you Fv (forward voltage).

Electronics store staff who actually KNOW electronics stuff can help you with the other numbers. Retail monkeys in electronics shops are less than useful.

Otherwise, PoweredPlay had a kickstarter so that people like you with no knowledge of electronics (or perhaps just no desire to learn it) could do stuff like this. Modular LED lighting kits for models.

The kickstarter was successful. So it should be starting production soonish.
