Note to Mods: Since Battlefront now takes care of DUST I though to post here. If another board is more appropriate, please move it.

A few basic questions:

1. What is DUST?
2. What's the difference between DUST Tactics and DUST Warfare?
3. How long do games take up?
4. How easy are the rules?
5. Which are the factions and what are the about (fiction and rules)?
6. Where is the best place to start?

If any other questions pop up, I'll post them.

Originally moved this to Misc.---but I was not aware Battlefront now owns distribution rights to Dust. Going to move back for now--although Misc. might end up being the Dust home. Regardless, enjoy a bump!

I've moved it into misc as well - we'll keep the battlefront/15mm ww2/vietnam forum dedicated to that particular range and leave any other stuff they do to the misc games forum as it is quite different from the other stuff being discussed in there. As always, if it gets enough discussion it will qualify for its own forum anyway.

Durban-South Africa. Like schwow man!

1- DUST is a weird war 2 game made by Dust Studios and distributed by Battlefront. The in universe year is 1947, the war started by Germany after their Polish road trip in '39 still rages on. Except now the opposing blocks have alien power sources to drive their ever more complex war machines.
2- Warfare is a tabletop war game ala 40K, Tactics is more akin to a board game. Don't play tactics so hopefully someone comes along and gives it a better description.
3- Warfare games of 350 AP take me a leisurely 2 hours to play. Tactics I've heard are faster.
4- Warfare is pretty easy to grasp, but harder to master. To me it doesn't try simulate tough choices or tactical play by making me roll more dice.
5-

Current global map showing allegiances.

Axis- First discovered VK. Durable heavy infantry. Great long range fire power. Has the sexiest Walkers, who make your Walkers cry. Lasers. Zombies and war Gorillas. Dudes in gasmask's if that's your thing. Axis want to unite the world under them to resist the Vrill (ET's) when they return to Earth. Mainly cause they accidently ventilated a Vrill they discovered in Antarctica and assume they might take that the wrong way.

Allies- Highly mobile Jump Infantry who hit you with rocket powered fist's and take your lunch money. Average infantry with a few exceptions. Artillery masters. Best air power (Warfare). Only faction who can "Deep Strike" AKA Air Drop. Access to more Heroes if desired. Have I mentioned Rocket Punches yet? Allies resist the Axis to halt their world domination plans. And after trying to sell out Uncle Joe, have the SSU camping out in Alaska and Florida to make things interesting.

SSU- Sino Soviet Union. Pretty much the USSR and China. Not familiar with this faction, best if someone else gives them a bash.

6- Find a group, give it a bash. The starter has some good stuff in it. And a Blackhawk. All the stuff is not available anywhere else as of now. Also, go here for more help, tips and other Dust stuff - http://dust-warfare.net/forums/

The important question is: Do you have people to play with? In my group, theres one guy with the Dust minis and nobody else wanted to buy. We just played a few games with him using his own minis and thats it. People are spending money in Warhammer 40k and Fantasy, Malifaux and Infinity. Even Dust minis are more than 40% cheaper.

Keep up the fight!
