I'm looking for ideas before putting the brush in the paint for colour schemes for loyalist mechanicum units.

I know red is symbolic of mars but units attached to space marine chapters appear to have taken some colour schemes and iconography onboard (FW's iron hand thallax attachments)

What would be a good scheme for those who stood at the final battle? i'm thinking a dark crimson and metal/bronze scheme but then thats a Word bearer colour scheme. As i dont have my copy of the novel mechanicum can anyone show me or discuss some good colour schemes?

i just want a break from paintin 50 shades of grey when painting a winter themed DKOK army!

I'm thinking everal different shades of light black. Maybe to some sort of theme that would work in a snowy landscape?

i like the gloss black heads to the thallax that seem popular, i have enough stuff between now and games day to paint and have work and uni commitments to fulfill so perhaps i should wait out for a sniff of what the HH:massacre book brings?

i'm guessing they'll have to be dark metallic colours - who does decent metallic shades at the moment? a deep metallic red/crimson may go well?
