Non playing interested individual - are dozer blades effective on rhinos and land raiders, can they be used to build defences / fortifications or do you need to add a techmarine to add this to a dozer bladed vehicle, the blade can reduce terrain but can it build terrain ie "dig in" etc

Um...what?

Do you have the codex? Because a dozer blade does none of that.

Dozer blades just let your reroll terrain tests. They have nothing to do with what you are thinking.

He's not trolling, he doesn't need a codex/want the rules. He wants to know if they're "worth it" and in general what they're used for.

btw I forgot to post if they are "worth it"

The answer is no, 90% of the time they are not worth the points. It is a case of cost effectiveness though so you are not hurting yourself by taking them just not helping.

Yes the question was "are they worth it" I hve sm and 6th ed rule book it just seems that I should be abe to do more with a dozer blade eg dig in a hydra with a chimera with blade for additional protection, creating rough terrain and other practical items

That would be a cool mechanic but it would also be a lot of extra book keeping as your average IG force can take a ~8 of those at 1000 pts without breaking a sweat. Could you imagine keeping track of all the terrain modifications? and how broken could that get, it would almost be teraforming at that point.

It's 5 points to maybe not get immobilized. I still manage to bog down my tanks half the time, but I never leave home without them if I can avoid it.

Good caveat. It should be noted I am talking about IG where they are 10 pts and you will be taking ~10 similar vehicles so those points add up.

In SM/GK etc. armies where the price is lower and the contents of the vehicle are more important they start becoming a better deal.
