Hey Everyone. I picked up a bottle of Badger Miniatures Ghost Tint Green for my DA. I absolutely love how this paint turns out with an airbrush. Nevertheless, has anyone ever tried brushing it on? I'm not very confident in my airbrush skills when it come to smaller models like tac marines, so I was thinking of brushing it on. I'm a little concerned, though, because this is not a regular paint in that it is transparent. Will it turn out fine with a brush?

Thanks

I love the ghost tints too and providing your base coat is done well (the transitions especially) you should be okay to brush it on. The only issue might be consistancy as thicker coats will darken the tint, if you wanted to get an even consistant coat across an entire army it might be hard to do without the airbrush.

That being said, just because you CAN brush it on doesn't mean you should. I would recommend continual practice with the airbrush. If you want a good idea as to what we can do with the green tint, take a look at my P&M blog as that's what I'm using for my Necrons. There are some decent before/after shots. Also, even my scarabs were airbrushed, so small details do alright.

One thing I can tell you about the green (which is different from something like the blues) is that to get a rich green cololur you actually want to be base coating in greys. You do not want to be using whites.

My necrons are done with all miniatire paints for the plating. I used:

D6-111 Coal
D6-110 Charred Stone
D6-107 Concrete Slab
D6-169 Ghost Tint: Green

Have the set but haven't brushed it on. As Falhurk said, the consistency of the coat will be the problem if there is one. I'd much rather mask off nearby areas using tape, blu-tac, masking fluid etc. Easily doable at any stage of painting, though if you plan it out you can make life easier.

I brush the brown onto the carapace of my nids, it works great and doesn't hurt brushes. Go for it.

If you are that nervous, just paint up a bit of leftover sprue with the same color pattern and test it on there and see what happens.
