Subject: How does Aerial Assault work for Necrons?

So basically I am new to 6ed. I recently purchased a larg Necron army, it came with the essential items and codex and rule book. The person told me that Night Scythes can move no more then 24 inches and no less then 18, then the unit can disembark and shoot all there weps. I don't understand how. Is this the Aerial assault rule? Are necroms the only army who can do this? And is it even true?
Thank you

You need to check the Flyer rules in the main rulebook to see how far they can move, as your mate is wrong.. And as to disembarking and shooting I'm not 100% sure on the necron rules, since I think they might be a bit different to a normal transport (at least they are when the transport dies). But having no heavy weapons in the basic squads leads me to say that it may be right, and even if they did have heavy weapons they'd just snapfire them.

A nib scythe is a zooming flyer so it has to go at least 18". An embarked unit can disembark as long as the night Skye hasn't exceeded 36". If they disembark after the night scythe has went more than 24", they can only make snapshots.

You need to read the Offical Necron FAQ page found on Games Workshops website.
This has many updates such as changing the Night Scythe from a Skimmer to a Flyer.
It also adds the "Invasion Beam" rule, which should clear up some of our questions.

Also, super sonic works differently from the version in the codex, the BRB version of Supersonic is the one to use.

Oh boy, this is the best part. With the changes to vehicles and how disembarking works, the only other transport Necrons have just became more awesome. The Nightscythe is by far the most reliable transport anyone can hope for because of the new FAQ. Reason number one: Invasion Beams. These allow your guys to disembark from a Nightscythe before or after it moves, but not if it moves more than 36". But here's the awesome part- if you disembark when the Scythe has moved up to 24", you can still fire regularly instead of Snap Fire (which would normally only allow them to hit on 6's). With the new Rapid Fire rules this means that you have a 48" threat range with Warriors and Immortals! And if you go beyond 24" you can still Snap Fire. This is a considerable boost and makes the Nightscythe a premier transport. Also, when regular flying transport got blown in the air all it's passengerswould get S10 AP2 autohits. But Necrons? No, you just put scythe passengers to upcoming reserves. Am I right?

Just read both the FAQ for Necrons and the BRB for flyers and the FAQ for the BRB and you should be fine
