So how does it work do you just pick the #'s not in the enemies zone and walk on ?

Yup, in that example you wouldn't be able to use sections 1 or 2 at all and you could only use half of sections 3 and 8 outside your enemy's DZ (assuming you're using a 4x4 board). Other than that you pick your board section and appear on the table edge anywhere within that board section.
