Subject: Nids for me, and "other" for some buddies.

So I finally wrangled my neighbor into taking some quick snaps of a few things that I've finished or almost finished, and I figured I'd toss them up here.
Nids: Part of my favorite group of Nom Noms, the paint job on these guys is meant to be quick and still look good on the table top. There are plenty of mistakes (the kind that you never notice when you are painting them, but stick out like a sore thumb when someone snaps a pic of them with a decent camera), but you never see them from 3ft away. All the big critters have magnets mounted in the bases for rippers converted into wound counters (which haven't been painted yet).
Flyrant (yeah, he has scything talons...it's a long story. He's usually proxied as twin-linked devs.)
Tervigon (Still need to add scrub grass for this guy)
Swarmlord
Riptide: This is for a buddy of mine, who's army I'm painting. It's in Sa'cea sept colors. Fully magnetized options with 5 different attachment points. Basing is still being decided on, so it's a simple black base for now. The orange bits will be done in OSL eventually, but as I have no airbrush, and I'm still practicing doing it with a brush on my own guys, it's going to stay flat for now. Also the model already has some wear and tear since it's seem a few games so I need to touch it up and pray for the humidity to drop so I can seal it.
Mutabrute: Another buddy wanted this for our D&D campaign, but wanted bits from both the Slaughter brute and Mutalith models...so this is what we ended up with. The base is flat black to match his other D&D minis. Yes, two swords are snapped off. We are talking about what to use as suitable replacements at the moment. Somewhere along the lines of the upload process, the contrast of the photos got washed out some, so try to imagine it a bit darker and with a little more definition..

I like them all! I'm usually not a big fan of blue (blame the ultramarines), but I like what you've done. I love seeing color schemes other folks have come up with for nids, always makes me want to start an army of them!

Thanks
Originally, I was looking at using a scheme that was almost a mirror to this (blue flesh, bone carapace). About that time Beasts of War were doing a series of videos for "Nid Week" and they demonstrated how to do this scheme with mostly just washes. I fell in love with the look, speed, and simplicity of of the paintjob so I took that and ran with it.

Nice work. The colors go together nicely and are well complemented by the bases. Got to love a fast and easy way to paint Tyranids.

Thank you both
@ Ifurita - As much as I love the results...I hate the process of painting, particularly the same essential model repeated over and over As a result, fast and easy was a requirement for me to actually start the army considering the hordes of beasties involved.
@ brush_slip - The washes on the wings bug me as I used the same method as I used on my gargoyles, but it does not scale as well due to the nature of GW washes and large surfaces. I think I might try thinning the washes a bit on the next one and doing a few more layers.

Nice work all around, but I especially like the Mutabrute as the colors really seem to work on it nicely. I wanted to pick up up just cause it looks like it would be cool to paint/model.

TY, TY
It was a fun model to paint, but I'd recommend painting the tentacles separately, then gluing them on afterwards. They can be a pain to navigate with a brush once they are on. Also...the swords are very fragile, so if you use them, again it might be worth adding them after the main model is done.
