hey guys! looking to start a tomb kings army. i dont want to spend too much but interested in getting around 2000 points!

what would i be looking to buy?

when i build an army i general;ly buy the models which i like the look of: 90% of time theyre the models which are most useless lol but i love the look of the: Tomb Kings Necropolis Knights / Sepulchral Stalkers! and i love chariots! so could any provide a good army list/selection for a cheap budget but effective?

kind regards
mike

p.s:

could anyone suggest any great colour schemes? im trying to avoid the Teal/Turquise colours as my WoC army is painted that way

Can't help you on the build, but how about a classic thousand sons theme for your painting? It looks a lot like many of the standard tomb kings and no teal.
Just dark blue, some yellow and gold.

what you absolutely NEED is a lich priest as tk require one to be their heirophant in every game. I suggest looking for the old metal blister pack on ebay as it comes with two, one mounted on a horse. as for army comp the Knights have never let me down, their entombed beneath the sands upgrade allows them to get anywhere by essentially deep striking. They are pretty tough to kill and do A LOT of damage. I can't really say much for the stalkers as I have never used them. they look great but their gaze attack is only good against low initiative units as you replace the targets T for its I (which would make elves better? lol)

Chariots- these are the best offensive unit in our core selection. they can shoot always hitting on 5+, do d6 impact hits and if you take a unit of 6 those impact hits become str5. they are incredibly mobile, the only down side is by the second round of combat they will most likely get obliterated. they need support of some kind. that being said I once had a unit of 3 chariots wipe out a unit of ogre bulls on impact hits alone.

I would suggest buying the battalion as that already fills up a good portion of your core, just build the cav as horse archers, Lich priest and a tombking. recharge your funds a bit and add another unit of chariots and a box of knights/stalkers. later add a war sphinx. the knights and sphinx are both point heavy but do alot for their points. they are also both over $50usd though.

other units(that have models):
Bone giant- amazing with two hand weapons. this guy can single handedly delete units.
Casket of souls- almost an auto include. gives you +d3 power dice and can run your opponent off the table early game.
Screaming skull- decent rock thrower, best taken in multiples.
Tomb guard- best infantry in the book a unit of 20 will survive a while with the banner of the undying leigon and a tomb king boosting their weapon skill
Ushabti- AMAZING LOOKING MODELS, i have always loved them. unfortunately their variant with the great weapons is just meh, the great bow version is only slightly better.
necro sphinx- pretty awesome at everything if he doesn't get cannoned turn 1
tomb swarms- great for tieing up units but you need at least 6 and they are a little expensive for what they are.
carrion- essentially flying ogres, great for harassing missile infantry and war machines.

Hope this gives you some guidance.
