What do you guys use to prime your models? GW charge out the anus for spray. I have liked Rustoleum products so far, the "camo" paint will bond to plastic so it works nicely. On my more detailed guys, I just go in with a brush and do a black acrylic priming/base coat to make absolutely sure all detail is retained.

Yeah, for fine detail models, nothing beats (for me) vallejo surface primer through an airbrush, as winterdyne stated.
It is amazing stuff, although it takes a while to cure properly before rough handling.

I use Vallejo Surface Polyurethane Primer in Panzer Grey, sprayed through an airbrush. The coverage is crazy smooth, and 200ml of that stuff lasts hundreds of models, versus GW size cans which empty after about 100 models.

Krylon flat black or white primer for most of my stuff, and Army Painter's Angel Green and Skeleton Bone for my Dark Angels and Deathwing respectively. Having bottled paints that are a 100% match for those two colors is also pretty damn handy.

I've definitely taken a liking to the Vallejo Urethane as well and I also like Panzer Grey for darker colors and I have white and a light grey for lighter ones.

It doesn't bond like a self-etching primer or Krylon Fusion-type sprays, but I've found it to be pretty resilient if allowed to fully cure before any rough handling. I've yet to have it scratch off of plastic without serious mishandling, especially if it happens shortly after spraying. I've also found the white to be a bit thicker and less forgiving in the application (prone to chalking, if sprayed from too far away) than their black, which goes on ridiculously thin and smooth with any but the most ham-handed applications.
When ColorPlace won't cut it (i.e. metal models), I use Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Primer in grey (figured I'd go for a neutral base, since I paint relatively few metals and don't need two cans).
Between those three (use both black and white ColorPlace), I'm pretty well covered. Plan to try the Vallejo PU primer if I ever get my airbrush running smoothly (or replace it, outright), more to avoid the stink of aerosols than any unhappiness with the finish of my current products.
