Hey folks, was just browsing my merc options and realized that I have never run a list using Madhammer! I have always been intrigued by a shooty/bomby dwarf list so here is my first shot at one:
Durgen Madhammer - +6wj
-Gunner - 3
-Gunner - 3
-Reinholdt - 1
Thor Steinhammer - 2
-AValancher - 9
Max Horgenhold Forgeguard - 8
Harlan Versh - 2
Herne and Jonne - 3
Might not be hugely competitive since it doesnt have much melee punch beyond the forgeguard but the round right before charging, where I actually get to lay down some heavy shooting, should be able to inflict some really massive damage to anything except those hard targets. Unfortunately, no real target for redline. Reinholdt I believe should be auto include with madhammer, an extra shot with that AOE 4 cannon of his should prove useful. He can explosivo the gunners on his feat turn to give them an extra damage and attack die, that means for 2 focus, you get a rng 12, pow 12 +4d6 on atk and dmg rolls, plus its got an AOE. The avalancher is self explanatory, Thor makes it mobile and lethal and again, on madhammer's feat turn, its going to hit anything and damage like a POW14 charging weapon master. Here is my question: Harlan versh and the gunners have some awesome buffs for their ranged attacks. Explosivo reads: Models in the AOE other than the model directly hit suffer blast damage but do not suffer any other effects of the attack. To me this means that if your weapon caused some kind of status effect such as continuous fire - then the models in the AOE would not suffer that. However, would you still receive the boosted damage rolls from a gunner's "powerful attack" ability? (Boost all attack and damage rolls for the attack). Would the AOE attacks also benefit from Harlan Versh's Purgation, Blessed, and Multi fire rules? If they do (I think they do, as the models in the AOE arent actually suffering any extra effects), then Harlan Versh could be extremely deadly against infantry blocks. 4 attacks with the bonuses from Purgation and Durgen's feat? Thats just terrifying.
