On your planet, burning your men!

Hey guys!

I have been lurking here for one or two weeks now and i'm hoping on buying my first miniatures soon.

A little bit about myself; i'm 19 years old, I live in the Netherlands and own two tactical squads of space marines, but I haven't painted in years, I first started with miniatures when I was like 10, I was on vacation in france and ended up in a wargaming store where I persuaded my mom to buy me a box of Warhammer Dwarfs (I have one left, all others perished ) and later bought some LOTR miniatures, back then I wasn't a very gifted painter but I knew no better! Now I see all these pictures and i'm ver mind blown, very realistic!
I had a lot of fun but it got boring, I had no one to share it with,, none of my friends did stuff like this and I was ashamed to tell them or try to get them interested!
Now I want to pick it up again i've read alot about the lore and ive viewed nearly every thread in the P&M showcase ( ) and decided I will go with Space Marines, allthough the Orks are also very Charismatic!

I do have a few questions I hope you can help me with, I want to make my own Chapter, and I want to include elements(not literally but more like "athmospherish") of Sven Hassels books.
Questions:

What first steps should I take to create my own chapter? (just thinking of a name for it is a hard task! )

Are there certain rules to making your own chapter?

With what miniatures should I start? (I don't have hundreds of euro's to spend! Sadly.)

Some basic information about rules and that sorta stuff?

Any help is appreciated!

Greetings and a nice day,

Porta

Ps: Laughed so hard at the text beneath my forum name!

Hello and welcome!

Now with that being said there are a lot of things about to change for the space marines! A lot of the rumor stuff I have read puts them two to three months out for their new book! When that happens I am sure a lot of things will change!

Now dont let that frighten you. Because we all know that Tatical marines will still be good. So you can still pick up a few boxes of them and get to work.

Creating your own chapter is always a hard thing to do. The way I have always helped people do it is to come up with a paint scheme they like! Once you have that scheme you come up with a story why they look the way they do. I have found that to be the easyest way for people who are stuck.

I wish you the best of luck and let us know how it all goes!

Thanks!

Even the choice of color will be hard, ive been looking for combinations now and everytime when I think i've found a good combo I come up with another one! but im not going to hurry it and make moves i'll later regret.

A there any spoilers on the new book? I'm curious as hell!
Is there a forum where I can make a thread just speculating about what thoughts I have about how I will take it on?

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Thanks guys, just removed the paint of an old metal model and starting to paint a broken marine (arms are broken off) to test some color scheme.

are you a bot, I swear ive seen this exact same post like fifty times.

@joseth
hello and welcome to wargaming, the way I came up with my main marine chapter was I picked a scheme and then built fluff around that.

Thanks! I'm currently trying out color schemes but it's hard to make a choice! I don't want to regret it later on.
