Well, I'm not a tournament player at this point, but I'd surely like to get into it in the future! I'm wondering about bits however and models being allowed. I can't remember where, but I recall reading something to the effect of non GW models not being allowed in tournaments. Is this true? If so, what about bits? For example, if I want to use a unit of CSM havocs with four autocannons, can I use an off brand manufacturers autocannon bits or will that disqualify the miniature? Buying four boxes of havocs just for the autocannon is well beyond what I care to spend. The forgeworld autocannons are alright, but I've found some other company's parts that are a little more reasonably priced, but I don't want to rule out being able to use them should I go that route!

If you're playing in a GW store, it's GW only. In any flgs I've ever been in, they don't care at all. I would check with the stores you'll be playing at, as they will be the ones to judge whether a model is legal or not.

I've used non-GW models and bits in 2 'Ard boyz tournaments (round 1 only), and a bunch of local tournaments without a problem.

TL : DR - Shorthand for ""Hi, I am a miserable cretin of the Internet that must be spoon-fed pictures and factoids or I will piss myself."

GW only and 50%+ GW has not been a rule for most events for quite some time. Since GW doesn't run events, it will probably stay that way.
