Yes it is. I'll keep it short.

- The looks: A black rubik's cube that feels very cheap. Being small is a nice change however.

- The controller: Rememer back at the days when cheap Chinese manufactures produced cheap PSX fake controllers that felt like a blind monkey assembled them? With loud, clacking button sounds and buttons sometimes getting stuck? That's what the Ouya controller feels like. It feels extremely cheap, like a 10$ controller. But there's more!

Right now, the Ouya is unplayable. The controller has a HUGE delay. It's ridiculous. It almost feels like 0.7 seconds - which is unacceptable. The touchpad is extremely unprecise and overall, Microsoft should think about filing a lawsuit against them as they pretty much copied their controller scheme.

Oh, and remember how any current gen gamepad works? Want to add a friend? Press the Xbox / WiiU button. Ouya? Quit the game. Get back to main menu. Get to controllers. Login. Cool.

- The tech: My smartphone is more capable than the Ouya. FAR more capable. Do I need to say more? 3D graphics are terrible, 2d graphics got slowdown in multiplayer games. It's horrendous.

- The games: Xbox Live Arcade / Steam Greenlight / Desura games at a premium price. Again: what the hell.

- Worst for last: Want to play? First thing you do is registering your credit card information. I am not kidding you. Before you can do anything with it, you have to give them your credit card info. Now...Sony has been hacked. Sony. Would you trust a random "console" developer with your credit card data? I certainly won't.

Summary: the Ouya is an expensive piece of plastic trash. Do NOT get one. DO NOT BUY ONE.

Suggestion: Save the 100$ and buy indies at steam for ~3$ a piece. Or sth. FAR, FAR, FAR superior games with far superior controls and far superior tech. Or buy a SNES adapter and controller and play good SNES games on your PC. Or ask your girlfriend out to dinner. Or just burn it. Anything, but don't buy this crap.

The Ouya actually advertises itself as a "gaming console". It comes at a seemingly low price but has extremey limited tech and the controller really kills it.

Forgot to mention the worst part, the mandatory credit card thingy. Added!

It is depressing that this thing is such a, for want of a better term i'll use yours, piece of trash. That controller is awful, especially with the removable faceplates, removable parts almost always break (think of your old mobile phone or tv remote) and having them on the 'worksurface' of the controller is just madness.

I do believe that the controller lag was fixed in an update but i could be wrong. Also i believe the track pad has been improved. I also noticed that during the gameplay for one of it's better titles, Chronoblade, the framerate was absolutely tanking.

Also having their own store and not googleplay means they can charge extortionate prices compared to the average (iirc, the vast majority are also free) $1.49 price of android apps on googleplay. Also in 'Ashens'' review of the Ouya he showed that both Hulu and Netflix were really hard to get working and looked like absolute garbage.

It's unfortunate that the similar and far more robust 'Gamestiq' android console didn't get the 8 million dollars as imo it is the far stronger product.

Oh dear....That sounds like a nightmarish thing indeed. I wonder who of the people behind it thought such things would be a good idea?

I bought a OUYA. I have played it. I agree with everything in Sigvatr's review except that the console itself feels cheap (although the controller certainly does). But that hardly makes a difference to the bottom line.

My one line review: there is currently no reason whatsoever to by an OUYA.

I really don''t know. I didn't buy it myself, we just got one in our office's "game room" (Yes, we have one, with all consoles and now even an Ouya) and everyone who touched it yet did not think about getting it again. Towerfall is a really cool game, but it will be ported to both the PC and arcade so...whatever. It's a very fun game though, if anyone in here has an Ouya (and I sure hope you don't!), you should get it. The developer is a very cool guy and the game's a lot of fun with 3+ friends

I had a feeling this thing wasn't going to go well.

I think I'll get a WiiU instead.

tl;dr: Nobody buys games for the Ouya. Surprise. Plus: it's an open source console. Arrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Just to clarify a bit: while some games sold for ~20.000$ (which still isn't a lot), those are 2-3 games, everyone else doesn't get anything sold at all, or just a few hundred bucks (~200$...which is nothing, really...). With those prices, I am not surprised. A single season for the pinball game costs 30$. 30. Dollars. And you just get a handful of tables. That's darn overpriced.

Don't most people have an Ouya for the emulators? I think I remember reading that it can emulate basically all of the old consoles.
