hi guys, i am brand new at warmachine/hordes and i am currently in a league at my local gaming store, so far we only manage to get into week 3 but the points jump up to 25, for this week, and i am at a lost on what to buy next for my small circle army, the only problem is in the league is that their currently no rules on what you can bring only that you have to keep it, and lets say for lack of a better word i'm getting quite smash every time i play, i am currently using battle box and lord of the feast for 15 points but i do not know what to add to that list for ten points i have taken a look at a few models but don't know if they would be worth to add in, reason why i am so hesitant, is because i am facing several lists that are as competitive as you get , great example: buchter of khador with winterguard death star and a sprigon,
alister caine with gunmages & UA, with the funky gobbler that add 4 focus to your caster per game, can never remember his name and the heavy warjack with a hammer, i do not know the units quite yet but the point that i am trying to make is i am fighting very competitive people...

so any advice that anyone can give would be most welcome at this point please and thank you

Funky Gobbler adding focus? Reinholt? If he's adding focus that sounds more like a proxied Squire (small robot thing) you might want to double check that.

Circle... circle.... Hmm... Circles flavour if I recall is that they rely on their tricks to do their work, I play against someone who makes use of eKaya on a regular basis (her feat allows her to basically get two alpha strikes in as it works on a basis of "buff force, charge in with movement buffs, do damage, feat and recall the battle group back to her, buff and charge again") pKaya can do this trick as well to a lesser degree with spirit door.

The shifting stones with their keeper are normally well recommended in a force but they take a little getting used to and do require something to take advantage of. Are there any units you like the look of at all in regards to their style? And I assume as you're using the battlebox that means you're stuck with pKaya as well?

The Pureblood warpwolf could help you as it has ghostly and cna give ghostly to the controlled warping of your other warpwolf meaning you can sneak through terrain with no problem (can't charge through a building though due to LOS issues) and spellward might help as well along with the 10" spray for dealing with a lot of infantry.

The Tharn blood trackers are an interesting choice too, set their prey for a target on the way to the opposing caster, kill that with ranged weaponmaster, pick a new target, rinse and repeat until you can get in range of their caster or a vital piece. If you do try them don't fall into the trap of picking a prey target they won't get to.

Aside from that... erm... the Gnarlhorn Satyr can be used as a bit of a deterrent with its counterslam but that's largely as far as my knowledge of circle goes.

-Edit-

It's unfortunate you are somewhat restricted with the "Must keep it" rule of the league but as you'll find out in time if you haven't noticed already, some unit choices are easy to work with, others take a bit more effort. Everything in this game can work but it's just a case of sticking with it to learn what to do with it. I dread to think how many games I lost when getting started myself as I got to grips with a force.

Go with Tharn Blood Trackers with Naula the Huntress UA. My wife plays circle and this is her go to unit. Hunted makes them shine big time. Set their pray as the opposing players unit and watch as they rip them to shreds.

Do you have the War Room app? It helps greatly when trying to decide units and such.

that butcher list might be a staple, but it has plenty hard counters, like everything else in this game. pKrueger would cause that guy nightmares with chain lightning and his feat.

if youve got 10points, and cant remove what you have already, it means you've got pKaya, 2 argus, a feral and feasty. decent start, and pKaya has really good low-point level abilities, with excellent abuse of her spirit door shenanigans. you have a lot of options to expand.

But you need a direction. do you want shenanigans? Shifting stones might be useful (with UA) and that leaves 7left over for a min bloodtracker unit with Nuala, or Nyss hunters. If you want to go troopy, go with a full squad of nyss hunters of bloodtrackers with Nuala. Alternatively, if you want to go beasty (and Kaya is a beast caster) you could go with a warpwolf stalker. i love those guys. excellent offensive stats, great animus, pathfinder, and quite reasonable in terms of price. But he'll use up all of your ten points.

you havve plenty options.

and dont worry about getting humped. its a right of passage in this game

thank you for the advice i have currently decided on taking shifting stones with ua and min bloodtrackers with ua and see how things go but im pretty sure by the time i get to 35 where i can change out my warcaster i just probably just go full shenanigans and just troll the enemy lol
