Subject: Warhammer 40k Played Like Axis & Allies/Dawn of War?

Has anyone done this? Looking for ideas. Basically the way I imagine it, you would create a campaign on planet (x). Planet (x) would have a certain # of territories. Before each campaign you & your opponent would roll privately for war victory conditions, example: Control (x) amount of territories etc. Certain territories would have industrial assets &/or bonuses of some sort. Each player would have a warlord which represents their main army which would be used to move from territory to territory. Each time you or your opponent attempted to occupy a enemy territory you would play a new battle of 40k. I think it would be cool to be able to "reinforce" territories you expect the enemy warlord to attack somehow, but not sure how that would work without creating imbalance on battlefield. Any suggestions?

It's been tried many times before. The biggest problem is keeping a group together long enough to finish an entire campaign. Usually you write out a bunch of complex rules, play a few games, and then people drop out and the campaign ends before any of your rules matter.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Yeah I imagine it would take quite some time to complete a campaign. I was considering doing it 1 night a week with some friends. Would likely take 2 months or more to wrap up.

I'd imagine it went into that "more" territory.
That's not to say it wouldn't be fun though. Set up an axis and allies table. When you charge into another territory you get 100 points for each troop in your assault. Make your armies and see who wins the territory.
It's a very good way to unbalance an incredibly balanced game

I would absolutely love to do something like this, but the logistics of it would be quite difficult. It would take a group of very devoted and likeminded individuals to make it happen.

I'm currently in the middle of a campaign like that. We all have a copy of a self-made campaign map, and info about the 'campaign movement is send by mail to each other. Battles <1000 pts are jut decided based on setup, and once a week or so we play a game of about 1500-2000 pts against 1000-1500 pts. It shows my Eldar's playing style on a whole new level, leaving almost every territory owned by them empty, only to launch apoc scale assaults on regular 40k armies. needless to say I own nothing but some vital objectives
