Here's my new tau colour scheme that I'm thinking of rolling out across an army. It's the first time I've used static grass and I've experimented with a top-lit model (lighter colours on panels facing skywards). Any advice on colour scheme, basing or the model in general would be great before I go into full production!

Somewhere just South of nowhere

Good colours. I'm not sure on the yellow markings: maybe too dark? If you keep to the fluff, tau paint their vehicles to blend into their surroundings, so blue models on green grass might not fit with the fluff (if you are concerned with that kind of thing).
Overall, I like it!

The yellows don't appear to have photographed very well, they do look much brighter in real life (more like the third picture)!

As for colours, I'm going to say they blend in with the sky (where they come from) Maybe not particularly fluffy, but I've really wanted to paint a blue army for a while now...

Should I weather him at all, or keep him looking factory-fresh?

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

Light weathering, methinks. A few chips here and there, and scorch marks on the exhausts, but otherwise clean.

Nice painting! Only suggestion would be to clean up the yellow a bit, it looks slightly dirty.

Love it, top to bottom! Great colors, good application. You even have him firmly on the ground rather than 'hovering' via a pin! (And your mini looks SO much better for it! ) Seriously good work on this.

Thanks very much for the encouragement! I guess I'll brighten up the yellow a bit and add some weathering -I'm always a bit nervous of weathering as its going over all that lovely highlighting that takes forever to do! I will definitelt keep it light this time though
