I basically posted this already but.....what the hell!

Can anybody give me any good ideas for ork clans (i collected bad moons for most of last year but i feel like starting afresh)?
I'm kind of tilting towards death skulls but i have no idea how to paint decent blue.

There isn't a Citadel color called "Decent Blue" yet? Color me shocked...

I'm personally a fan of Evil Suns and Goffs.

Deff Skullz!!!

I'd look nice on the table, having both yellow and blue.

It would also make sense that the Deff Skullz would want a chance to loot some expensive gear.

The only issue with doing Deff Skullz is that they are super popular right now and seem to be the predominate Clan. Having said that, if you don't mind blue vs blue....go for it!

Freebootaz would be epic, and I don't think I've seem any entirely Freeboota army.

I'd love to do blood axes because my friend has a very Armageddon based Goff army (led by Ghazghkull Thraka) but I'm crap at painting camo and i enjoy having dreads and stuff in my army. Any suggestions for camo?

Goffs don't really do "cammo"... they do "black". Their cammo is black.

"Goffs", as an Ork thing, is based on the late-80s iterations of Goths in the UK, being a blend of punk and second-gen goth music and fashion, dressing in black, being menacing to people who find people in black clothes and white makeup menacing. They are something of a counter to the soccer hooligans that were the inspiration for the more typical Orks.

Camo is easy. Take three complementary colors, such as a light, medium, and dark version of the same color. Give your model a basecoat of the color you want to be the primary. Then, take the secondary and make dots of varying sizes. Finally, take the tertiary and use a fine brush to paint squiggly lines. Here's an example of one of my Blood Axes:

No, he doesn't look like much, but blame my skills rather than the technique. Some of my others also have scattered stripes of the camo colors on their exposed flesh to represent grease paint, though I couldn't find one to take pictures of at the moment.

Snake Bites! Probably the least done Ork clan out there. Boar Bikers and feral orks for the win!

Actually, that Blood Axe looks really good.

If you're looking for camouflage inspiration, just google "colored camouflage" and pick one. If you have difficulty copying those, there are quite some tutorials from girls painting their nails in camouflage, you can steal ideas from them.

However, painting camouflage en masse is a major pain in the rear if you don't enjoy painting a lot. If I could travel back in time, I'd probably do bad moonz or evil sunz, because painting everything yellow or red is so much easier than painting camouflage on 60 shoulder pads on your average boyz mob. And while large vehicles (battlewagons/dakkajets) look awesome in camo, it takes a long time to paint them.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I've always been a fan of the Goffs, but seeing the patchwork camo of the blood axes is a constant pleasure, too!

As for a "decent blue", try the 3 step blues that are on the GW site, it is actually very simple to do if you have the right colors on hand.
