All,

Noob question here. I've consulted the mini rulebook that came with the DV set, and haven't found my answer.

When a grenade is thrown, how do you determine a hit?

Since this is a blast template weapon, I guess you use the scatter dice.

Thing is, 2D6 of scatter seems a lot for a grenade that can be thrown only 8".

Is it the "normal" 2D6 - BS?

Or is it something else, like 1D6 but no BS adjustment?

Thanks,
Aeglos

It scatters the same way any other blast weapon would 2d6 - the model's BS. But, you're right, it's kinda iffy to throw one since you have to be so close.

RAW is the same as any blast weapon. How my friends and I play it is only 1D6. But that is a houserule.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

2nd edition (which was the last time outside of Apocalypse that thrown grenades were a standard 'thing' had them only scatter up to half of the distance thrown. With blasts, that did still allow the possibility of hitting yourself if the target was close enough, but did make it a little less likely that you could throw a grenade and have it go in entirely the opposite direction...

Yeah, I've seen some wonky results with grenade scatter. (Including doubling the grenade's "range" and still scoring hits, as well as deviating back the way it had come, missing the throwing unit entirely and landing on the opposite side of them.)

What about grenades that don't have a template? Kraks, haywires, so on, so forth. 7-BS?

Yup. Just the same as other non template weapons.
