Dear Dakka,

I have been ever so curious as to lists pertaining bikers, that are based upon bikers. Notably the ones that have a wazzdakka HQ and biker troops. I would like to dig through dakka for biker tactics. So if you gits have any advice, notes, and what have you for the know-wots of Ork Warbikers, let me know.

I know a bonus of biker troops is that:
- the fast attack slots are freed up for fliers or deffkoptas.
-they are fast and can be a mock eldar guardian jetbike list with their objective snatching goodness
-Their lack of numbers is made up by the fact that they are more shooty than their sloggin cousins
-You get Wazzdakka who is significantly awesome

Notes I am aware of:
-They may be ork boys, but their fewer number makes it hard to win assaults reliably
-Few numbers means morale is a problem

Ideas I have:
-Wazdakka with all his biker troops teamed up with troops nob bikers and their complimentary warboss biker to lead them as the spearhead of the list. (Lots of wheels) Team this list with fliers or deffkoptas and take flight to a speedy victory. (Punny )
-If not fliers and koptas, then lootas and artillery (Boomguns, kannons, etc)

So Dakka, thoughts, tactics, etc? Feel free to make this a biker thread for all orky goodness, but keep it positive. I, and probably other dakkanauts, do not want to read stuff like "Bikers are garbage, take vendettas", "Don't bother, just take deffrolla spam", or "Howabout make lootas troop choices?".

Thanks!
-DaK

Pros

Every bike has a twin linked, short range big shoota. Murderous firepower vs infantry and not too shabby at glancekilling light vehicles

High toughness with 4+ armour and 4+ cover on a fast unit.

Cons

Small unit size means fearless goes away fast

No anti tank utility beyond a pk Nov

Spendy models and spendy in points

Fragile compared to Nobbikers, as no inv save or fnp option

I love running my all biker list, but ubercompetitive it ain't...not that I care all that much

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Also note that most new armies (CSM, Daemons, Eldar, Tau) can take away the cover save one way or another (ignore cover weapons, psychic powers, markerlights) allowing them to mow down your 25 point boyz at alarming rates. Make sure to have a backup plan for those occasions.

If that doesn't happen, keep in mind to play to win, not to kill, which is highly un-orky. Avoid any combat/shoot-out you can't win, hide your units, pick off weak targets, boost onto objectives last turn.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Even before the new Anti-Cover meta, i refused to take wazdakka troop bikers.

Wazdakka himself is an overpriced warboss without an invul save. His non-twinlinked 24" S8 Ap3 Assault 4 Dakkacannon doesnt make up for this.

Any random heavy flamer will cream the warbikers. Bikernobz only survive it because multiwound 5++ and FNP doesnt really care..same for baleflamer.
Now days with the amount of anti-cover, theyre a severe risk. If you face a list that easily removes cover, your bikes are dead.

I would love to run pure bikers, but i think dual 7man bikernobz with bosses in each is way more deadly and powerful than equal numbers in cost worth of warbikers.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
